the low income taxpayer clinic program provides education and outreach services in the area of tax and financial education to new hampshire's english as a second language (esl) population. We promote the filing of tax returns to take advantage of the eitc and ctc which brings substantial funding into the state and into the individual hands of the working immigrant population. For calendar year 2014, we conducted 53 workshops and outreach events to a total of 698 esl's, a slightly higher number than the prior year. In addition, we reached out to many other groups providing similar services at fairs and outreach events with a six-fold increase in such events over the prior year. A 300% increase in the literature distributed, up to 3,490 pieces of literature were distributed, in addition to the information available on our website.

larc handled 488 client matters during the second year of this grant. Outcomes achieved for clients included legal counseling about foreclosure and bankruptcy with and without a referral to a lawyer to litigate their cases; preventing foreclosure sales by restraining orders and preventing sales without an order; obtaining loan modifications; and achieving graceful exits. Legal services from larc included conducting title work, negotiating with the adverse party, reviewing loan documents, researching the law, and preparing legal pleadings for clients to represent themselves.
