I’m a longtime volunteer and donor for the LAMB Foundation. I love how committed they are to helping people in our local community with intellectual disabilities. They are thoughtful in the support they provide and I love that funds stay local to our community. I also love their low overhead and how more than 93% of what they raise goes directly to those who need it most. Most people just see the LAMB Foundation’s donation collections outside grocery stores with yellow aprons and Tootsie Rolls. People don’t see the all-volunteer hours spent working on corporate donations, grants, donation collection schedules or careful analysis of where funding is best spent. People also often don’t take the time to see all the wonderful places their support is put to work. Individuals with intellectual disabilities and their families are often overlooked for support. Their charities aren’t very popular and the support they need spans lifetimes. I’m proud of the work LAMB does to see, include and support these members of our community and their families.

LAMB Foundation of NC, Inc. has allowed me to support interactive learning experiences with my students with speech language disorders. A special education teacher and I collaborated to create a garden with our students. The students loved planting, then watching the vegetables grow. This experience provided an excellent opportunity to target vocabulary, sequencing, social interaction, and following directions.

The LAMB Foundation of NC has been a steadfast supporter of Holy Angels and the residents we serve for over 25 years. Their unwavering dedication, generosity, and prayers have truly made a difference in our community, and we are deeply grateful for their continued partnership.

Year after year, the LAMB Foundation has gone above and beyond in supporting our key fundraising events, especially our annual Angel Bowl, gala and Clay Shoot. These events are crucial to our mission, and thanks to the LAMB Foundation’s incredible contributions, they continue to be a success, allowing us to raise the necessary funds to support our residents.

What sets the LAMB Foundation apart is not only their financial support but also the kindness and genuine care of the people behind the organization. They are a compassionate group, committed to making a lasting impact, and we are so fortunate to have them by our side.

We cannot thank the LAMB Foundation enough for their 25 years of prayers, support, and friendship. They are truly a great organization!

As a member of the LAMB volunteers we have raised thousands of dollars in donations for teachers of exceptional children in the Pendar and Onlsow County School Districts in North Carolina. The equipment and programs that these dedicated educators have been able to acquire and put to use in their classrooms have changed lives! We have seen this and have received their letters of great appreciation for our generosity to their programs. The LAMB Foundation continues to do great works for those in need.

I have been supporting the LAMB Foundation of NC for over 20 years. The work that LAMB does in support of Special Education classes, Special Olympics, and work place opportunities for special needs young people and adults is heartwarming. Many of the beneficiaries of LAMB's generosity are people that I know from my community, where I shop and in my circle of friends.

LAMB Foundation truly lives its name: Least Among My Brethren.

I have worked as a volunteer for LAMB for a number of years, and saw first hand the importance of what we do for Special Education and Special Olympics.

On one occasion while delivering checks to the schools in our area I came across a new Special Education teacher that had never heard of LAMB and had no idea why she had been called to the office. When I presented her with a check for several hundred dollars to assist her class her eyes welled up with tears.

That made all of the long hours and hard work feel even more special than I knew it already was. Just an overwhelming experience for both of us. I will never forget that day, and how rewarding the work of the LAMB Foundation is.

Since moving out of state I still support LAMB Foundation of NC financially, and try to come back when possible to participate in the fundraising activities. LAMB has been a very special part of my life for over 20 years.

I have helped raise funds for LAMB since 1983. It is very rewarding to be present when the organizations supported by LAMB receive their checks, so they can move forward with their projects. Also, i have worked with the organization by participating in sports activities and see the faces of the people that LAMB brings.

every year i have met people that thank the LAMB foundation volunteers for work to assist them.

I also am personally involved with these organizations by sitting as a member of a Board of Director and volunteer.

Working with the Knights of Columbus to help support the LAMB Foundation of NC has always been an honor and a privilege. Yes, I enjoy handing out Tootsie Rolls as well as vying for the best locations to collect donations, but it's when the donor smiles back at you and says "I appreciate the great work your organization does" that puts that warm and fuzzy feeling in your heart. And you know your efforts will be rewarded by helping those in need especially those right in your local community. I am grateful that the LAMB Foundation has been a leader in this charitable endeavor and look forward to many more years of supporting this wonderful effort.

Our program at Duke Health Center was a recipient of LAMB Foundation of NC, Inc. donations for over 30 years while I was working as a pediatrician for children with disabilities including autism and fragile X syndrome. Part of the donation money helped with laboratory testing to evaluate families to see who was carrying the gene for fragile X syndrome in a diagnosed family. Many of the families had members. who did not have health insurance, and it was important to have this medical information for educational and genetic counseling purposes. We also received money to stock the clinic with learning materials such as children's books, wooden puzzles, flash cards, etc. Some of our families were poor and didn't have the kind of toys and learning materials that most families take for granted. These donations improved the quality of our work and enabled us to be much more helpful to families than we would have been otherwise.

As it has been said all Knights do LAMB. Volunteers are very helpful especially for this important State charity that the Knights adopted including all of our state councils. 85% of the donations stay in the area of the local council to assist children with intellectual disabilities primarily in the local schools. The other 15% goes to the K of C State Council to assist with areas that have no local councils or councils that do not participate. Personally the recipient institutions are very happy to receive the grants to better their programs to enhance their programs for special needs children.

Countless hours going into the planning of any fundraiser to ensure the event runs smoothly. 100 percent of profits to to this worthy cause. The LAMB Foundation of NC is an outstanding charity! As local director in Apex, the thing I love the most about it is that we are helping our local community as well as the entire state. Most of the money comes back to our local community as our goal is to support individuals with intellectual disabilities and their families in the areas of faith, education, and quality of life. It's very rewarding to contact worthwhile support organizations and ask them how we can help further their mission in supporting people with intellectual disabilities! We've helped young people by donating to local schools and churches. We've helped adults by providing equipment to organizations that employ people with disabilities. We've helped youth and adults by defraying costs of some therapies. It's a great way to both engage, and give back to our local community.

As a member of the Knights of Columbus in North Carolina for 38 years, I have worked as a volunteer for over 37 years collecting donations at grocery stores for The LAMB Foundation of NC, Inc. Our council has participated in our Operation LAMB Tootsie Roll drive every year since 1982 and our 10 beneficiaries in the Johnston, Sampson, Harnett and Wayne county areas rely on the donations we receive. Many write our donations into their annual budgets. We have helped purchase many items and have funded many programs for these recipients. In addition to our brother Knights, many of our beneficiaries work side by side with us during our street drives. People give freely and recognize our bright yellow and red aprons. The citizens of our area know that the intellectually disabled in our area are supported and loved. I feel the LAMB Foundation is the epitome of what it means to "love thy neighbor"!

As a Special Education Teacher I have seen the need for funds to support our special needs students. Sometimes the funding from the school system and the government are not enough. It is a sad oversight of those in power. In the past when I heard that the Knights of Columbus LAMB program was able to support the needs of our students in our school directly, I asked for support. They replied with a check for $1,700. My Principal, colleagues, students and myself were overwhelmed. We now had much needed funds for special needs material and we were able to use some of the monies to take our students to a restaurant and teach them how to order food, pay for it, receive change and give a tip to the waiters. This was truly a life skill training that most of our students in the past were not able to experience. We were also able to buy some clothing for our students who did not have proper clothing. God has truly placed the LAMB program where they are needed. Thank you LAMB.

The LAMB Foundation has help financially to the educational and social networks of our child's life and these contributions have made a dramatic difference in the quality of assistance. I encourage the public to donate the change in your pockets to the Knights of Columbus when you see them at public festivals and church fairs holding out the very familiar yellow LAMB drive jars. I have been volunteering with LAMB for the past three years. It is one of the most worthwhile charities that I am involved with. The stories that the local teachers deliver at the annual fish fry that our Council hosts, brings tears to the eyes of those in attendance. One teacher actually used her funds to purchase a rug, so that her students would not have to sit on a cold floor.
Other teachers purchase learning tools for their intellectually challenged students. I bring my grandchildren with me to pass out tootsie rolls on some occasions. The experience provides bonding between family members and also teaches young children how to give of themselves in order to assist those less fortunate.

As a member of the Knights of Columbus, I had the opportunity to visit the Caswell Developmental Center in Kinston, NC. I would recommend anyone to visit the center. It is heart breaking to see the individuals but very heart warming knowing the Knights of Columbus devote their time and money to the center.
As a past LAMB Director for my council, I have conducted many LAMB fund collections. I personally know how important the collections are for LAMB. As a LAMB Director I lead my council to be number in the State of NC. It was an honor I will always cherish because I know how much it means to the LAMB Organization. I continue to donate money to LAMB so that it will always help the less fortunate.
The LAMB Organization deserves more credit for their efforts to help the less fortunate.
God Bless!

Children with mental handicaps need a lot of help. Unfortunately, our school systems can only give so much. Donating money to the local school system has a great impact - the teachers are so grateful for the financial help.

Attached is a Facebook post from Nichole Smith, teacher at Holmes High School in Edenton.

Every year the LAMB foundation helps provide additional resources to special needs classrooms right in our own community! The teachers in these programs are better able to access furniture and teaching materials that are suited to meet their learning and behavioral needs. This continues to be a very important program that benefits everyone!

I've been involved with Operation LAMB for over 15 years. I've watch it grow from giving to about 10 charities to over 40! The money collected goes to the teachers of Cabarrus County. The teachers send pictures of their students using the classroom supplies and trips taken (community based training) with the money donated from the funds of Operation LAMB. The teachers are very grateful for the funds and can't wait for the letter from the Knights to request funds each year. It is truly a vision to see the smiles on the faces of the students and teaches when they receive the funds. I truly believe we ere making a difference.

This organization keeps all of its proceeds in North Carolina. In addition, 85% of all funds collected remain in the local community. All manpower is volunteer, so no overhead goes to cover salary expenses. If you know anyone with a special needs child, you know how much it means to see the community come together and provide support for education supplies, activities and skills training.

The LAMB Foundation of NC serves those who are truly in need. As a volunteer funds-raiser for almost twenty years I have seen and witnessed the generous financial support by people of all walks of life. With even being asked, people donate financially when they see that the donation is going to the LAMB Foundation.

I have volunteered to accept donations to L.A.M.B. organization for years. I stand outside a store, which always give us permission, and accept donations. When people understand who and what we help they give generously without reservation. I never need to "solicit" nor attempt to "talk people into donating".

I have volunteered with the Lamb Foundation of NC for over eight years, the first three years as a helper and the last 5 years as a director. What a rewarding experience it has been! I have met the nicest people and have seen firsthand the goodness and generosity of the public at large. Our work and the donations we collect mainly go to support those with intellectual disabilities. As a director, I have met many of the people we support, people with whom I would otherwise never come in contact. This experience has opened my eyes to the challenges some people have and has helped me to become a more caring person. I would not trade these experiences for anything.

The LAMB Foundation has been a faithful supporter of our mission of loving, living and learning for the differently able for over 15 years. Holy Angels is a nonprofit 501c3 residential facility in Belmont, NC that provides specialized round-the-clock care for children and adults with intellectual developmental disabilities and delicate medical conditions. The LAMB Foundation, as well as the individual Knights of Columbus Councils, have dedicated their prayers and support to assisting us in providing the highest level of care for those we are privileged to serve. They have provided funding for adaptive equipment, mechanical lifts and transportation to name a few. They have always been eager to have their members come tour, learn more about our mission and develop a mutually beneficial partnership with our agency - because both Holy Angels and the LAMB Foundation strive to serve "the least of these" in all that we do.

For more than 15 years, the Lamb Foundation of NC has supported the Charles Lea Center's Landrum, SC group home for severely intellectually and developmentally disabled adults. Landrum is in the dioses with Tryon and Columbus, NC. The donation is used to buy Christmas gifts for the 16 residents and to celebrate the season with an event for clients, their families and staff. Given the extreme dependence on 24/7 care that the residents have because of their disabilities, trust between the families and staff is so important, especially for this group home. Through the years, Lamb Foundation donations have been used to purchase games and toys for the residents and outdoor items, such as a porch swing and gazebo to allow folks to enjoy being outside. The gentlemen who drop off the check each year seem so interested in the lives of our clients; they always want our folks to be home when they visit!

Collecting donations side by side with the Teachers who benefit directly through grants made by the Lamb Foundation, is gratifying. The grants assist in equipping these Special Education Teachers with additional tools to help educate the very special students entrusted to them. Participation by the Teachers shows the importance they give to the success of the Lamb Foundation.

The L.A.M.B. Foundation Returns to Wallace

On Friday, September 9, 2016, eighty golfers descended upon the River Landing Golf Club to participate in L.A.M.B. ‘s 7th Annual Bill Lord Memorial Golf Tournament. This event, organized by the late Bill Lord, a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 12921, raises funding for Duplin County Schools’ Exceptional Children’s Program.

The L.A.M.B. Foundation of N.C., Inc. was officially incorporated in 1999. Operation L.A.M.B. is an acronym derived from the Biblical phrase from: Matt. 25:40 ‘Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.’

Since its inception, L.A.M.B.’s Bill Lord Golf Tournament has raised over $30,000 to purchase developmental equipment and programs which school budgets don’t provide. Last year, the Duplin County Schools’ Headquarters Staff sponsored a team and there were forty four players; this year, eighty players plied the River Landing Course. The tournament attracted several new corporate sponsorships.

“The school system is fully behind this fund raiser.” Said Cary Powers, Director of the Exceptional Children’s Program. “This is the best turnout ever and we are pleased that we had some generous corporate sponsors. We, at DCS, are committed to this event and I believe next year will be even better.”

Duplin Schools’ Superintendent, Dr. Obasohan welcomed the players as well as the five members of North Duplin’s Exceptional Children pictured in the photo. These students helped on the course by serving refreshments and snacks to the golfers at one of the refreshment oases located on the course. In the picture from left to right: James Powers, J.J. Vaca-Esparza, DCS Superintendent Dr. Obasohan, Timmy Davis, Cesar Matute Sosa, Hugo Menchu-Melchor and OCS Job Coach, Bob Sivori.

Huck Booz, Deputy Grand Knight of Council 12921 and Tournament Chairman, added. “I am grateful for my fellow Knights and their wives who worked tirelessly to arrange all the pieces of this event. Dedicated people behind the scenes always make for a successful event.”

Cary Powers continued. “We appreciate our Partnership with the Knights of Columbus. This year we received 27 requests for grants from DCS’ Exceptional Children’s Teachers.”

Huck Booz continued. “We are very excited with the response and the participation. This year’s tournament raised over $9,700. Given this success, we look forward to next year’s Bill Lord Memorial Golf Tournament scheduled for September 15, 2017.”

I have donated to this wonderful charity for a number of years. The fact that a large percentage of the funds raised goes directly to program support is a real plus. Also they have a granular ability to identify local organizations in need, sometimes overlooked by larger Foundations.

I first started volunteering for LAMB about 13 years ago and really received an eye opening experience when I visited Holy Angels in Belmont. Just seeing where some of the funds went and what the results of the funds were increased my desire to help raise money for LAMB Foundation. The donations that are given to SPREAD are an excellent reminder of the theme of LAMB of assisting the challenged individuals that are needing the most attention and assistance.

I first started to volunteer for the LAMB Foundation about 12 years ago. The more time that I spent helping and seeing first hand what their efforts accomplish and the impact on both those with intellectual disabilities and those that serve them made me a firm believer. One of the most impressive aspects is that it is an entirely volunteer organization thereby assuring the maximum amount of funds raised go to help the organizations that serve those with intellectual disabilities. My time helping the LAMB organization increased over time and I am now on its Board of Directors.

Through the Knights of Columbus I have volunteered for the past 12 years in various roles to assist this wonderful program.

As it is totally volunteer, fully 93% of the funds raised go directly to program support. What's more, with 130 Chapters across the State of North Carolina, they have the ability to identify local needs often overlooked by the huge Foundations. Also we continually see funding being reduced, rather than increased.

One of my favorite stories, recently at a check presentation to a local public school system, the head of the program came up to me and pointed out new lights in the ceiling. She pointed out that until recently they were florescent lights which some people with intellectual disabilities have a problem with. She said previously they could not obtain the funding to replace the lights - and without our support the problem would still exist.

The LAMB Foundation is run by a volunteer board so no funds are eaten up by costly salaries.

I can think of no instances in which I could not highly recommend the work of this foundation.

LAMB FOUNDATION provides us with a grant for scholarships to help those in school who plan to have careers working with the developmentally disable. They have been a partner with us now for many years and have always been so gracious. In addition, with the assistance of the LAMB FOUNDATION, we able to also provide some Quality of Life Grants for residents living at the O'Berry Neuro Medical Treatment Center. They help us to ensure these residents have the best quality of life possible when the state and family members can't. The LAMB members are always so nice and professional, they visit the places they help and take the time to meet the organizations as well. THANK YOU FOR ALL THAT YOU HAVE DONE AND CONTINUE TO DO!!!
