Programs: The majority of our program revolves around the breeding, raising, and training of these fine animals. The cost of producing a working bloodhound averages around $14,500. These animals are available to departments within the law enforcement community at little or no charge. In placing these trained bloodhounds, much time is spent in the education and training of the officer handling the dog, as well as educating the department to recognize when the bloodhound can make an effective contribution. The Foundation also performs educational trips for schools and other groups, bringing retired service dogs, or puppies waiting for training, and demonstrates the abilities of this great animal.

Saving lives.Quite simply: When the search is for a missing child, a bloodhound and its handler may be the single most important resource of law enforcement. When a person is missing, no stone should be left unturned in their efforts of location, and trained bloodhounds have been used for centuries for this very purpose. The Foundation, as 832 K-9''s Deputy Dogs, is dedicated to providing law enforcement with exceptional bloodhounds trained for police work, at no charge. The Foundation breeds, raises, and trains registered bloodhounds, providing the means for these dogs to become valuable partners of the law enforcement community. The Foundation strives to benefit communities, through education, and through the placement of these"Detectives of the Dog World". A bloodhounds nose is a million times more sensitive to scent than a human''s. In many states, the bloodhound''s evidence is admissible in a court of law. Even trails older than 2 weeks have been successfully tracked. A resource such as this should be available in every community, because when someone is missing, time is always one of the most critical factors. This Foundation was organized in memory of Deputy Kody Hellyer Snodgrass, who handled his department''s bloodhound "Jimmy". They made a difference.

I read an article in the Stearn's County (Minnesota) newspaper how 832 K-9's Deputy Dogs saved a 3 year old little girl lost on the family farm. Awesome job.... something I am sure the parents are very thankful for! That story touched my heart... more »
