Over the years I have had different roles with this organization. Throughtout my time there, the organization has always put the community they serve first. It has been a joy to see so many dedicated individuals working together together to help the youth of DC achieve!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

all of the children I taught during my time here. It is truly amazing how much the KIPP alumni have achieved.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The success of my children's education.

Ways to make it better...

Time afforded me the opportunity to be even more involved.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Awesome, Amazing & Fantastic!!!!! As a life time ward 7 resident/parent I found it extremely hard to find high achieving, quality public schools in that area. After hearing, reading and visiting KIPP DC I knew it was the place for my kids. I am a proud parent of a 6th grader and an alumni, now attending Sidwell Friends. Everyone, teachers, principles and staff work hard to give our kids quality education. In the end, our children thrive, they set goals and acheive them. KIPP DC equips our children with the necessary tools to go above & beyond what our society/community has set. Every student is individually important to KIPP DC. When students win, KIPP DC wins and Parents are extremely proud and thankful.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

it's students. Every students benefits from KIPP DC. They are given excellence to achieve excellence. They are taught discipline & hard work equal success.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

not change a thing.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

being able to see both sides of the fence. First, seeing what my children and other children can and have achieved because of KIPP DC. Seeing students make a 360 degree turn, from barely making it, to making it to the top of their class, accecpted into top High Schools and soon top Colleges. And secondly, as a Board Member, seeing & learning what it takes to give our children "THE BEST" education. Management of this non-profit Organization is phenomenal!!!

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

wonderful!!! They are patient, kind, supportive & genuine. They share their experiences from college to career.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

reach more students in other communities making the Nation's Capital #1 in Education. They would become the guide to quality education everyone would look toward. KIPP DC students would continue to be among the stars of the future.

Ways to make it better...

I were still a student.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

communities not willing not change and fundraising.

One thing I'd also say is that...

KIPP DC is #1, our students are "the Best"

My experience volunteering with KIPP has been more challenging and rewarding than any I've had. The teachers and administration at KIPP have never ceased to amaze me with their dedication to the school and students, maintaining strong bonds with students and families long after "promotion" from 8th grade. KIPP's "No Shortcuts, No Excuses" mantra is lived 100% on a daily basis by everyone at the school -- from the Principal to the students to the janitors mopping the floor. The opportunity to work with eager and ambitious 5th and 6th grade students every other Saturday morning allowed me to get in touch with a too-often overlooked part of DC. The look of pride on my students' faces when they harvested their first batch of lettuce from our community garden, or scored the winning run in a kickball rubber match, is something that will stay with me for ever!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the smiling faces and heartfelt speeches at the 8th grade "promotion" ceremony each year.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

110% dedicated to the mission, action, and results of the school.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

change the lives of thousands more students in one of the nation's worst school systems, boosting our children beyond the cycle of poverty, forever bridging the achievement gap, and having an invaluable impact on the future of our nation.
