KLF does great work with the community. Their programs that help bolster education and literacy with the youth of the community is highly commendable. The yearly backpack drive has helped many children from various age groups and communities to have the necessary tools that they need to prioritize there education. As a whole, this organization does great work and is always a joy to participate in their events.
The mission of the Kerosene Lamp Foundation (KLF) is to empower youth to grow into healthy and well-educated leaders. KLF was founded in 2003 by a native of St. Vincent & the Grenadines and retired NBA player, Adonal Foyle. KLF uses basketball as a bridge to the next generation, promoting education and health awareness, providing free Athletics & Academics camps, mentoring at-risk student-athletes, promoting literacy by doing reading assemblies and building/refurbishing basketball courts. To date we have directly reached over 5,500 children.
My husband and I have been active with the KLF for over two years and cannot find a more worthy organization. Helping kids to achieve the combination of academic and athletic success produces young adults with self-confidence who will go far! We look forward to what the future holds for each of these wonderful kids!
I worked as a camp counselor and hands down, the KLF SVG camp was the best experience I've ever had an opportunity to be a part of. We reached over 1,500 children and the one-on-one interaction with them is irreplaceable. I will always support anything KLF does because it's well-organized and the impact on the children of SVG is huge! I hope the KLF summer camp is able to expand and continue for years to come.
