Programs: Community projects - to promote volunteerism and improve the community through effective action. Some of the projects include: gilmore henne community fund and calvary united. There are 175 trained volunteers.
the jlr young women's summit is a day-long workshop/forum for young women ages 11-16 years old led by a professional facilitator and supported by the junior league of reading, pa, inc. (jlr) and community volunteers. The purpose of the summit is to engage a diverse group of young women from reading and bers county in a meaningful dialogue that will 1) expand their developmental assets, 2) cultivate their leadership skills, and 3) empower them to make a difference in their community through civic engagement and the creation of a community project. The summit was developed as part of the jlr's new multi-year initiative healthy choices, healthy kids, focused on promoting healthy bodies, healthy environments, and health self esteem in our youth.
