The InterFaith Conference was the first staffed organization in the world to bring together the Islamic, Jewish, Protestant, and Roman Catholic faith communities for the purposes of dialogue and social justice. The Baha'i, Hindu/Jain, Latter-day Saints (Mormons), Sikh and Zoroastrian faith communities have since joined. The IFC brings together people from different religions, economic levels and races to deepen understanding and respect for our diverse traditions and to dialogue on key issues of the day.
Programs include: The Interfaith Youth and College Program, The Congregational Partnerships Project, the Commission on Social and Economic Justice, the Teaching about Religion program and the Speaker's Bureau. Special events include the Fall and Spring Public Dialogue, the annual Richard Snowdon lecture, the Interfaith Service in honor of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr, the Anacostia Pilgrimage project, and the Annual InterFaith Concert. The IFC is also constantly developing and planning interfaith services for local organizations and religious communities and responding to the religious needs of the metro DC community.
