Target demographics: HomeAid partners with non-profit Service Providers that serve individuals who have suddenly become homeless through job loss, divorce, domestic violence, foreclosure and catastrophic illness. HomeAid also builds facilities for abused children, foster care youth, disabled veterans, homeless people living with HIV or AIDS, etc.

Someone who had 3 hours of volunteer time could: Volunteers can participate in Project Playhouse, Essentials for Young Lives Campaign and volunteer to assist in HomeAid's Shelter Development Program.

Geographic areas served: Atlanta; Chicago, IL; Colorado; Dallas, TX; Houston, TX; Inland Empire, CA; Los Angeles/Ventura, CA; Southeastern Michigan; Northern California; Northern Virginia; Orange County, CA; Portland, OR; Sacramento, CA; San Diego, CA; Seattle, WA; Southern Nevada; Washington, D.C.

Programs: HomeAid America creates local chapters across the nation, which inspire homebuilders (builder captains) and their subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants to donate labor, materials, and services. The effect is that each chapter renovates or constructs 1-2 shelters per year for their local community, which are operated by existing, qualified, community-based non-profit service providers.

Mission: To build and maintain dignified housing where homeless families and individuals can rebuild their lives.
HomeAid has now completed 308 shelters around the country totaling 2,200,000 square feet of space at a cost of approximately $185 million, of which nearly 50 percent represents in-kind donations by builders and their trades and suppliers. Our facilities have now housed more than 160,000 people. We currently have 30 projects in development. It is a substantial record.
