Mission: The Hillsborough Jr. Raiders is an independent recreational youth organization serving the community of Hillsborough, NJ, since 1992. The Jr. Raiders offers organized youth activities in flag and tackle football, cheerleading and track & field for youth in grades Kindergarten through 8th. We are committed to teaching the children the skills they need to have fun playing in a safe environment. Our players learn and apply the principals of sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline and dedication. The Jr. Raiders offers opportunities for boys and girls of all skill levels. Our philosophy is that all children need to get into the game. Everyone plays. You do not learn, improve or have fun by only doing a set minimum playing time or watching from the sidelines. We emphasize the fundamentals and progression of skill development, which will prepare them to participate at higher levels of competition as they progress through the different levels within their sport of choice. The Hillsborough Jr. Raiders provides Hillsborough High School student athletes that are prepared for the next level of competition and education.
Results: Our cuurent fund raising effort is to fund a new equipment and storage facility. Our old facility is being torn down by the township and we have to find a home for equipment and supplies for over 600 children and growing. We also need funds to build a running track and to improve our practice facilities for football and cheer. We currently practice in a rain detension basin.

I have been involved with this organization close to 20 years. My kids are grown but I believe in the foundation of youth education, athletics and volunteerism make your town a better place. I have been involved in other organizations as coach and volunteer but we have taken this group to the next level. We participate in the leading organizations and associations that promote health, safety and overall proper environments for all children, regardless of their abilities a proper place to participate. Some of our mottos:
Everyone plays
The best game in town

We work hard to make this happen, with emotion, sweat and some tears.

We have grown from a local youth program to Goldstar Silver rating over the last few years. We now offer both spring and fall sports including USA Football associated flag, tackle football, competition and local cheerleading, track & field and girls lacrosse. We have produced state and regional champions, and proud of our kids and families. the Hillsborough Jr Raiders also encourage our group to give back to organizations and the community including the recent supporting of a Memorial Day breakfast for local veterans and supporting families in need.

These of just a few of the things that make me proud to be a leader in this organization. I encourage you to stop by one of our activities or contact us to learn more about us.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Ask for more parents to get involved. We need people to get of the sideline or get away from the drop & run mentality. Being part of your child's and their friends involvement in youth sports is a rewarding time and you'll be surprised at the new friends you will make too.

I've volunteered and been involved with several youth sports groups over the years with girls and boys. This group goes out of their way to be part of the community, not just a pay for play experience. The leadership has spent countless hours reshaping the organization into a near model organization. They are transparent to a fault at times and are taking a no nonsense approach while providing a safe and sane place for all in youth sports.

I've been involved with many organizations, but it is this one that always rises above all others. The Jr. Raiders organization is devoted to building self-esteem and character in the children that participate in it's program. My daughter participated as a cheerleader since age 5 and excelled in the program through eighth grade. I attribute her developing strong dedication and perseverance to this program. Although she graduated from the program 2 years ago, I continue to devote many weekends to the program because I believe in it.
