Mission: To help interpret the history and culture of northeast south dakota
Programs: Provided interpretation on the land, dakota indian people and french mapmaker joseph n. Nicollet to students and visitors at the nicollet tower and interpretive center. More than 8,500 people attended the site. The emigration experience from scandinavia and history of immigration to the area is provided in the historic stavig house museum. Tours of the home and area are also provided. "the stavig letters" dramatic readers theater performance is made available for public groups. The "stavig letters" won an emmy award for "historical television documentary".
