Located in bedford, texas, for more than 42 years, texas health harris methodist hospital hurst-euless-bedford (thheb) operates 322 beds. The city of bedford is located between dallas and fort worth. Thheb offers a broad range of inpatient and outpatient medical services to the communities in northeast tarrant county with specialized capabilities in many areas, including women and infant services, cardiovascular services, orthopedic services, physical therapy, digestive diseases, oncology services, and behavioral health. The behavior health program consists of three inpatient units (adult psych, adult chemical dependency, and adolescent psych). The program also offers an extensive partial hospitalization program, seven outpatient satellite clinics, and provides crisis evaluation services to six acute care facilities in tarrant county. In september 2016, thheb will be opening a new icu/high acuity tower. This project is an expansion of an 18 universal bed unit for icu/high acuity level patients and repurposing the current 14 bed icu unit for lower acuity need. The expansion will create capacity for growth and adequate resources to provide quality care to patients served. Thheb also holds a number of specialty accreditations and certifications. Thheb is accredited by the joint commission for the hospital program and the behavioral health program. Thheb holds accreditation in acr ct, mri, and nuclear medicine. The clinical, anatomic, and ancillary testing departments of the laboratory are accredited by the american association of blood banks american college of pathologist (cap). Thheb was the first laboratory in northeast tarrant county to be recognized by the international organization for standardization (iso 15189) for quality and competence in medical laboratories. The hospital was also the first in northeast tarrant county to earn 3-year accreditation with commendation from american college of surgeons commission on cancer. Thheb is a fully accredited cycle iv chest pain center. Thheb is the first hospital in northeast tarrant county to be certified as a primary stroke center by the joint commission. Also, thheb is the first hospital in northeast tarrant county to be designated as a trauma level iii center. Thheb is the third hospital in texas to earn baby friendly designation from the world health organization. Thheb is a center of excellence in minimally invasive gynecology (coemig). Thheb won the silver award from tmf health quality institute, five-star hospital award from the bureau of vital statistics at the texas department of state health services, texas health care quality improvement award of excellence from tmf health quality institute and named quest top performer by premier healthcare alliance. Thheb provides quality medical healthcare regardless of race, creed, sex, national origin, handicap, age, or ability to pay. The hospital provides care to persons covered by governmental programs including medicare and medicaid for reimbursement that does not always cover the cost of providing the care. Recognizing its mission to the community, services are provided to both financially indigent and medically indigent patients. Community benefit is provided through many reduced price services and free programs to the community. These services are essential to provide complete healthcare to the communities served. Some of these programs include: various health screenings were offered to the community free of charge or for a nominal charge such as diabetes, heart disease and breast cancer. Thheb provides a unique, comprehensive healthcare outreach to adult tongans living in northeast tarrant county through consistent utilization of the mobile health unit, clinical volunteers and health educators. A full time health coordinator leads clinical volunteers in providing medical tests, immunizations, screenings and health education to this targeted population. Teen court is a program where teens convicted of a misdemeanor are required to attend educational offerings related to the offense committed and complete community service hours. Thheb provides classes on the dangers of smoking and drug and alcohol abuse for this program. During the year, thheb had 65,571 patient days, 14,402 discharges, 83,022 outpatient encounters, 57,449 emergency room visits and 2,086 births. Thheb provides quality medical healthcare regardless of race, creed, sex, national origin, handicap, age, or ability to pay.
