Mission: Hamakua Incubator Kitchen and Crafts (HIKC) was founded in 1994 following the closure of the primary employer on the Hamakua coast of the island of Hawaii. The community envisioned a future of 1. Locally owned businesses: HIKC provides a place where entrepreneurs can operate a food business with minimal investment. HIKC nurtures these businesses by providing individual counseling, education, and marketing assistance. 2. Diversified agriculture: Food and craft products add value to agricultural produce. 3. Community Involvement: Community groups can prepare food for community events at HIKC. HIKC actively participates in other community groups and in community events.
