Habitat for Humanity of Orange County has two ReStore Discount Home Improvement Centers that sell new and used home improvement items as a way to raise money to build homes. What better way to recycle your good re-useable kitchen cabinets - you keep them out of the landfill, get a tax deduction, help Habitat build homes and help another family remodel their home and enjoy your kitchen. I donate all of my books too!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the joy of giving to a good cause and helping another family experience the joy or remodeling and owning their own home

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

That it focus on the local level and you can see the results

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

The staff is experienced and very hard working - and the volunteers bring a mix of experience, skills and energy. They also learn skills to do remodeling at home and help build their resume.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Add another ReStore to be more self-sustaining, build more affordable housing in Orange County,CA and around the world

Of all the organizations I could volunteer for, this one has my heart. HfHOC has built over 130 homes and has helped that many families get back on their feet and give them a new start in life. I think the biggest joy for me is to see the children's faces when they see their new home and see the pride in the parents. These homes are not a "gift"; the families work for them and pay mortgages, etc., but it is truly a step up for them.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

watching a family I interviewed for a home, help construct and move into their new home right after Christmas. The dedication and blessing brought tears to everyone's eyes.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The people working for a nonprofit are a different breed - while they are also concerned with a bottom line, it is not their priority. Everyone who works here, does so because they want to not because it is just a job!

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

the best - I worked at a University for 40 years and feel better about my work here than I ever did at my career job. The volunteers are great and as I said - we work here because we want to and believe in the mission, not because of the pay.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Build, build, build.

Wonderful to volunteer for...the people that work here are very nice and supremely grateful for the help. The staff is minimal, encourages volunteers, so the money donated goes where it needs to go for those who need the housing. A very worthwhile charity. I also admire the restore. Recycling at its finest, the materials that can be reused are, and they prove "one man's trash is another man's treasure".

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

their money raising events, and their restore..

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Fun, I learn from the staff, and the staff treats me better than I deserve!!!

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Fantastic, caring, dedicated people.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

build more homes for those who want to do their share, are willing to work to learn and maintain a home, and need a home for their families.
