I was looking at buying a house in the Green Springs Water Supply Corp and found out some disturbing things.
1) When you purchase a house in this Water District you have to pay over $5,000 dollars in fees to get a meter to become a member.
2) If you are lucky enough to to have the former property owner turn their membership over to you, you may be stuck with paying their past water bill.
3) To get your water turned on you have to sign an over 6 page document that gives the Green Springs Water Supply the right to a blanket easement to your property. This means they can put water lines anywhere on your property not just to get you water, but anyone else as well. The contract so open ended they could put pumping stations, a water tower, any size water line (32 inchers+). By you signing away your property rights, they can build whatever where ever and not pay you a dime for your loss of land use.
They basically hold you hostage and without water until you sign their ridicules agreement. I understand needing 1 easement to get the water to your property and on, but to sign a contract allowing ANYTHING water related built ANYWHERE on your property without discussion or compensation is criminal. The proper term is extortion.
