Causes: Community Service Clubs
Mission: The organization provides opportunities, education and caring relationships to help lake county, co become a place where youth make healthy choices, families thrive and the community is united.
Programs: Family support - this program empowers parents to create a healthy environment for their children and includes two nationally recognized parenting curriculums. Families actively engage in this highly interactive and positive approach toward improving family environments. This program served 73 children and 80 parents.
youth mentoring - the mentoring program matches one on one mentors and provides after school activities. These components work to build relationships that are fundamental in building healthy behaviors and attitudes of youth within the community. Activities include hiking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, swimming, sledding, ice-skating and fishing which teach valuable life skills. This program served 43 youth and provided 96 activities and 30 mentors.
high school program - this program provides engaging prevention and self esteem activities to high school students. The wreck (less) club includes activities to prevent drinking and driving and tobacco use. Latinos unidos includes activities that focus on skill and strength building. The saad program brings awareness to vehicle safety issues. Boys council and girls circle engage youth in discussions around body image, health and self esteem. This program served 100 youth in lake county and provided 242 after school activities and 127 in school class sessions.
outdoor leadership - this program is designed to meet the needs and interests of the 7th and 8th grade students in lake county and includes three clubs; outdoor leadership club, girls' club, and boys' club. Outdoor activities are structured to encourage positive choices and life skills and include team building, leadership, outdoor adventures skills, sports, games and community service. This program served 58 youth and included 97 activities. Expenses 69,159 revenues 69,159 restorative justice program - this program facilitates discipline conferences in lieu of suspension or expulsion. We served 64 cases this year which included reaching out to parents, teachers, community members and peers. Expenses 52,058 revenues 52,058 girls circle/boys council - 3 separate programs using research based curriculum to prevent substance abuse, school dropout, violence and increase resiliency. 9th grade girls circle offered a semester long class pass/fail 5 days per week during the school day. 8th grade boys and 8th grade girls offered after school as 2 10 week sessions.
