Friends of the Longmont Senior Center, Inc. Overview
Programs: The Friends of the Longmont Senior Center provide funds for:Facility Enhancements - By funding capital improvements, office and computer equipment, furniture and room furnishings. Program Enhancements - By funding recreation, health and othr programs sponsored by the Longmont Senior Center.Support Services - By contributing funds for program scholarships, caregiver and other support programs for older adults and their families.Unbudgetted Items - By sponsoring additional items not included in the Longmont City Senior Services annual budget.Since 1981, the Friends have donated over $525,000 to support the Longmont Senior Center.Donations include:$75,000 for the 2001/2002 Expansion;Over $15,000 for Medical, Caregiver, Counseling and other support services;Over $10,000 in Furniture and Office equipment;Over $40,000 in 2007 supporting services, activities scholarships, facility needs, Outreach, information, and assistance;$15,000 annually for the past two years in funding a part-time staff position for the Senior Center Social Services department.The Friends programs also include a marketing and awareness program for the Longmont Senior Center, a caregiver information and referral program, a Cultural Affairs Program, and Last Resort Emergency services fund. The Friends also support senior physical and mental health programs and a senior domestic violence survivor support program.
