Friends of Fort Knox
Mission:
The Friends of Fort Knox mission is, "to save Fort Knox and enhance its usefulness as an educational resource and economic asset to the surrounding communities". The Friends of Fort Knox were organized in 1991, in order to save the Fort from impending closure. Fort Knox, located in Prospect, Maine, was constructed mainly in the 1850's, to thwart a third British invasion up the Penobscot River.
