FOUNDATION BEYOND BELIEF INC

Our mission: To demonstrate humanism at its best by supporting efforts to improve this world and this life, and to challenge humanists to embody the highest principles of humanism, including mutual care and responsibility. The Foundation highlights five charities per quarter--one in each of ten areas (poverty, education, human rights, natural world, and other worldviews). Members join the Foundation by signing up for an automatic monthly donation in the amount of their choice, then indicate how they would like it distributed among the categories. At the end of each quarter, all donations go to the beneficiaries -- nothing is retained by the Foundation -- and a new slate is featured.

We have raised over $250,000 for secular-friendly charities since our launch in 2010. This money was used by the charities for projects like providing food, water, and medical services to victims of drought in East Africa (AMREF), building reservoirs in Haiti (Roots of Development), and giving six US school classrooms minigrants for much-needed educational materials (Adopt-a-Classroom), among many, many more. Since 2011, our Volunteers Beyond Belief program has provided a network of local freethought organizations volunteering in 14 US cities. Over 1500 secular humanists and freethinkers have donated their time to date. In 2012, we will launch Foundation Beyond Belief Australia, and we have also joined with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to raise $1 million in 2012 through the creation of local teams for their Light The Night walks.
