Rating: 5 stars

As the Director of The Pig Preserve, I have worked with FAREC since its inception and with members of their staff for many years prior. Although our paths cross on dogs and cats occasionally, most of my dealings with FAREC involve the re-homing or rescue of pigs...miniature pigs, farm pigs and even the occasional feral pig.

They are an excellent organization to work with and have a diverse nationwide network of contacts they can call on to help with rescues, foster homes and permanent adoptions. I have never had a bad experience with this organization and they are responsible for saving the lives of hundreds of animals over the years.

They often do a great deal of education, especially when it comes to educating new owners of miniature pigs, which helps keep a lot of pigs out of the rescue pipeline by educating their caretakers who were contemplating getting rid of the animal.

FAREC has always thought and worked outside of the conventional box of animal rescue, education and re-homing and has pulled off some near miraculous large rescues over the years.

A very professional group and very easy and pleasant to work with.

I would like to share my experience with pot belly pigs. I grew upon a farm in the Piedmont section of N.C. We had lots of animals, chickens, cows, hogs goats.and horses. The hogs were used for meat.We had an extremely large boar named big Red. He was the most gentle and never stayed in the hog lot. He slept in the barn. I never got to handle any of the babies unless it was time to neuter the baby boys. I hated that job. I got my first little pot belly pig December 28th 2015. My son named her ReuBen. She was the runt of the litter. Any time I have had a question or I was so frustrated I could cry, all I had to do was get in touch with these wonderful, kind, patient people and I would get an answer . I am so grateful to have found them. They are worth their weight in gold. Thank you so much!!!!!

I've known Lana and her good work long before Forgotten Angels was born, and all the way she has put needy animals (not just pigs) at the front of her priorities. This is a great organization...one that knows how to accomplish what needs to be done. Thank you, FAREC, for being who and what you are. You are greatly appreciated.

FAREC continues to be a lifeline for animals in need. I've had interaction with them for many years now, and in that time they've never failed to be of immense assistance. Kudos to FAREC.

Over the years the pig community has viewed FAREC as the "go to" organization when help is needed in rehoming and transporting pigs. They have the knowledge and connections to get things done in all matters of the pet pig. With these folks at the helm, our beloved pigs are at much less risk of disaster befalling them. We'd surely accomplish much less if we didn't have their help, kindness and concern.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Don't know...am amazed at how much they take on now. So much is behind the scenes stuff, and not apparent to the average user of their services.

FAREC is the "go-to" group when help is needed. Lana at FAREC has been working for the benefit of animals for a long time, and if she can't help directly, she knows who can. We operate a small private sanctuary and depend upon FAREC in many aspects, from transport matters, placement, fundraising. You name it...it gets done! We owe FAREC a debt of gratitude.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

We've indeed experienced the results of FAREC's efforts. Lana of FAREC has an amazing list of contacts, and can solicit volunteers to step in and help with a myriad of problems that exisit. We live in NY, but FAREC has arranged the transport of animals both to and from us...all done by volunteers with funds raised from mostly the "Pig Community".

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

FAREC is a small group of highly effective folks who get things done. Sometimes larger isn't better, but there is no doubt but what more funding would be of immeasurable benefit. If more folks knew the extent of what gets accomplished through FAREC, there would certainly be more help forthcoming.

This organization never pressures people into donating. Whatever one can give is very much appreciated. They give updates on current rescues and keep people informed.

Forgotten Angels Rescue & Education Center, Inc. is very quick about getting urgent rescue notices out to those interested in helping animals. They are great at disbursing donations to the people/organizations who assist in helping animals in need. This center doesn't just disburse donations and leaves; it sees that the animals are truly helped by observing and reporting an animal rescue from beginning to end.

I have known Lana for years, having been a "potbellied pig parent" myself. FAREC is a wonderful organization, providing outreach and support for these wonderful, and, often, misunderstood animals.

I have been a donor for FAREC for many years because of the great help FAREC and Lana have been to the "pig community." There are so few resources for pigs and Lana and FAREC have their finger on the pulses of every resource there is. If there is a lack of a needed resource, FAREC creates the resource. Farec has organized fund raiseing for medical care of injured pigs and for neutering of animals before they go to their forever homes. Relays of volunteers to transport animals across the country to a forever home have been organized. I always see whee my donations are going--to help and support finding each homeless pig a forever home.

I have chosen to donate to Forgotten Angels Rescue & Education center because I see the results of my donation on a daily basis. FAREC works tirelessly to rescue and then place animals who are falling through the cracks in our throw-away society. Not only do they rescue, but they find both foster and permanent homes for a variety of animals especially "exotic" animals that can be hard to place, such as pot-bellied pigs. They don't stop until they are successful. They also arrange neutering, emergency medical care and transport to new "forever" homes. If this was all that they did, it would be more than enough, but the education component of this organization goes out above and beyond by working hard to educate the general public in the effort to decrease the number of animals who are abandoned or even mistreated. I cannot say enough about how much this dedicated organization is doing and they will always get my extra dollar.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

seeing the number of homes that have been provided for abandoned animals, by contributing to provide emergency medical care to a particular animal and getting the pictures and reports of a succcessful intervention. I hear almost on a daily basis from people who have reach out and found their particular angel through FAREC and hear of the assistance that has been given to get that special animal to a new home.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

urge more people to donate and volunteer.

I have had a good deal of contact with Forgotten Angels Recue and Education Center (FAREC) through pig information and chat sites. I am keenly aware of the tireless work Lana Hollenback does rescuing, caring for, and re-homing animals in need. Lana is a dedicated member of these sites and works with them to find forever homes for the tragic numbers of rescued pigs who have been cruelly treated or abandoned. This work is crucially important at a time when pot belly and other domesticated or 'petterized' pigs are crowding animal shelters and rescue centres throughout the United States and Canada.
The work that Lana and other animal rescuers do is vitally important and without the support of concerned people and funders, their super-human efforts will be in vain. FAREC under Ms. Hollenback's direction has saved thousands of animal lives and continues its mission with love, dedication, and great skill.
Please support this crucially important and humanitarian organisation to continue rescuing, caring for and re-homing animals in need.
Thank you.
