Location: 3765 S Higuera St Ste 100 San Luis Obispo CA 93401 USA

Mission: The mission of the Family Care Network is to enhance the well-being of children, youth and families in partnership with our community.FCNI began in 1987 as therapeutic foster family agency offering a family-based, community-centered treatment alternative to institutional care. Shortly thereafter, in collaboration with county agencies, we began adding services to prevent the removal of children from home. Presently, we provide 17 distinct programs in five services divisions. This includes: Therapeutic Foster Care Services; Family Support Services; Delinquency Prevention & School-Based Services; Transitional Housing Services; and our Community-Linked Services division. FCNI serves a population of severely emotionally disturbed, behaviorally challenging and/or high needs children, transitional age youth, & families, most at risk of requiring long term intervention and of consuming public resources.

I really believe in what Family Care does. They are constantly trying to make a difference in the county and keep families together. They always put the families first. FCNI is also very creative in ways to promote what they do and raise funds to support the mission.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

I have met many amazing foster parents who really care about the kids. They deal with difficult kids everyday and always have such grace and humor.

I've been involved with Family Care Network since 2000. I experienced the love and concern they have for children and families in our community. Most specifically for one of the girls in our church who was molested by a caregivers husband. Family Care Network staff was there to help this young girl heal from the tramadic experience. She is today a wonderful, careing young lady who is persueing a degree Sociology and wants to work with young children.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

When I was with the organization first we had 40 employees. I've seen the growth and the quality of individuals who have been hired for the agency. All are very caring and quality people.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Not change a thing.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

See the smile on families and children's faces after receiving care from FCNI.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

I have met all levels of staff members. From the CEO to custodial staff. All are quality people.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Build better office space for staff and a place for community involvement ie. Meeting rooms for seminars and conferences.

Ways to make it better...

Nothing could be better

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Finding adequate office space. Also, to find affordable housing for the employees.

One thing I'd also say is that...

You can't find a more committed staff to their mission and goal to help in the community children and families.

As a primary care pediatrician, I have been so amazed at the love, compassion and involvement of so many of the precious foster parents working with FCN. What is unique to me is the consistent care these children in need receive from FCN. The social workers and staff seem to seek the deeper meaning of the lives of these children and families. FCN is one of the great organizations that I have had the privilege of working with. May God bless them.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

healed children, families and lives.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

do everything I could to ensure that its mission never changed.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the true outreach to the community

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

amazing

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

expand the great mission and vision to help children and families in need.

Ways to make it better...

nope

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

keeping up in the face of the draconian budget cuts.

One thing I'd also say is that...

I have never met people more passionate about the work they do then the employees of Family Care Network. Every individual there is completely dedicated to their jobs and to changing lives. My experience with the organization truly showed me how a small group of motivated people can make a huge difference in peoples lives as well as the community. This organization is completely dedicated to bettering everyone around them, and they are such an inspiration to the people they touch.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the people's lives who they have touched as well as the impact their work has done in the community.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

try to expand as much as possible to impact as many lives as possible.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

being inspired by the people who work there.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

AMAZING! Everyone here has a very sincere and honest passion for what they do.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

help keep so many children safe and with their families all across CA.

Ways to make it better...

it was the best it could have been!

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

not a clear enough picture in people's minds of what they really do. Not enough name recognition in the community.

One thing I'd also say is that...

you cannot find an organization that honestly cares more. If you want to be surrounded by people with a passion for what they do, this is the place.

My family received WRAP services for approximately two years due to our sons severe emotional needs. He had constant rages, self harming behaviors (cutting and burning himself) and the whole family was in a state of crisis on a daily basis. FCNI came in and helped us as a family to restore some normalcy in our home. Our son is still living with us and there are still issues that come up from time to time but we are able to communicate appropriately and he's a great young man.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

watching families graduate from WRAP and being able to access the community resources that will help them to continue to be successful. To see a torn apart family, become whole again. For family members to be able to live together in a safe environment.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I wouldn't even attempt to. The man and his board that do, have done an amazing job of having the same vision and wanting to help the most needy children.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the dedication that they have towards all of the families they serve and to all of their employees. A motto that I have heard a lot is that they have never met a family that couldn't be helped, everyone has strengths, we need to build on what they have.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

very well trained and professional at all times. They are very skilled in working with the most difficult children and are truly passionate in

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

save so many children from lives of moving from foster home to group home to juvenile hall. It would help keep well trained and caring staff from leaving. FCNI to have a Charter school so children could have a safe and caring environment to learn in.

Ways to make it better...

I had a Family Partner to understand that we were not alone in this and that there is hope. The engagement phase of wrap, the trusting phase, would have happened quicker. FCNI now employees Family Partners and has for the last 4 1/2 years.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

One thing I'd also say is that...

"have I said what a GREAT place this is to work and how lucky our families that we serve have such caring and trained personnel".
