Programs: Education program services - the center achieves its mission "to help people better understand the u. S. Congress, its people, its processes, and the public policies it produces" by providing access to unique and original historical materials, by developing lesson plans and student activities, and by creating special educational projects related to the history and current operation of congress. The center delivers this information primarily via a suite of eight web sites and an e-newsletter which reaches over 40,000 subscribers world-wide. Research and archival program services - the center awards congressional research grants to scholars from the disciplines of history, political science, and public policy to assist in their writing and teaching about congress. The center also maintains nearly 4,000 linear feet of historical manuscript collections documenting the careers of four members of congress. These collections are complemented by more than 75 smaller collections.
