A no-nonsense, non-judgemental goldmine of information for the curious. Has no doubt saved lives through providing practical information rather than "don't-do-it" advice which will simply be ignored by youngsters in any case.
I live in the UK and our government, despite all the evidence to the contrary, still believes prihibition saves lives, despite anyone with a brain - and common sense - knowing otherwise. Recently, there has been a spate of kids dying after dropping a single E. Now, I've no idea whether it was the tab itself that killed them (if so, what the फ़क was in it, because it certainly can't have been (just) MDMA - what would be so toxic that a single pill would cause death…?). My money's on the fact that because it's illegal, they had no access to information on how to take it safely, and what to be aware of regarding adverse reactions and side-effects (which, with MDMA, include extreme thirst and, obviously therefore, frequent urination caused by an imbalance of potassium and sodium. Y'see, if it was legal, clubs could have proper, medical-grade, rehydration fluid behind the bar, so that calling an ambulance wasn't necessary).
Y'see, it's actually illegal to publish information on recreational substances, because the government believes that it will encourage their use, this is to ignore the obvious that people will use 'em anyway, so why not make the info freely available…? Oh there are sites, but you have to know about them, they can't advertise their existence).
I apologise for the length of this, but this is a topic that makes me apoplectic, especially as our former PM, on introducing the воІІох that was the Psychoactive Substances Bill (now the PSA), had the audacity to claim that parents were demanding tougher legislation, which is utter BS - parents want legalisation and regulation, so they know their kids have access to the info that will allow them to take these substances SAFELY.
I want as many people as possible to know about EROWID, because the information it contains, and the experience reports, should be easily accessible - ideally there should be a localised version in every country where its info would be useful. Until this happens, parents are going to continue to grieve. What REALLY needs to be prohibited is stupidity, especially when combined with government. EROWID, and resources like it, must continue to flourish, the work they do, and the information they provide is absolutely vital - here's to the next 20 years and many, many more! Thank you.
this website is so important. its everything you are looking for and more. 10 stars. thank you erowid for existing!!!
One of the best website about objective informations on psychoactive drugs.
This has been the most systematic review website I've ever known. The information and articles are very precise and accurate.
This amazing wealth of straight forward information is a fantastic resource promoting education and harm reduction around the world. I have relied on this website hundreds of times and thank my lucky stars it exists. The write up on interactions with prescription antidepressants will have saved numerous lives. This is as important, if not more important to humanity than Wikipedia.
Fantastic archive of information, very helpful and a very practical tool for staying safe. Education is power.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Maybe update the website a bit, but it doesn't really matter :P

Erowid supports a vast wealth of accurate and unbiased information on nearly any substance, exercise or practice one might undergo in order to achieve some change in perception. Not just about the raw facts and data, but also with the user-submitted reports from thousands of people who have had very real experiences ranging from absolute nightmares to life-affirming realizations and pure bliss. The information provided has no doubt saved lives and helps to educate those that are curious, regardless of whether they use or even approve of the behavior. The only possible con is that the website's layout/style could use an update.
