Mission: The foundation will raise funds to restore and preserve the cemeteries of the comstock. Monies raised will be used for security,restoration projects and necessary future maintenance. Land ownership will not inhibit or interfere with the execution of an effective preservation plan and compliance with accepted restoration processes. Our mission is to return the gardens, the dignity and warmth to the comstock cemeteries and preserve the heritage and the cultural value these historic landscapes offer for generations to come.
Programs: Restoration & preservation:caretaker's cabin project (cemetery cottage) to establish cultural-visitor's center. County donated historic miner's cabin. Cabin was relocated to main cemetery and placed on new foundation. This activity includes capitalized costs of $41,400 for the relocation and restoration of the cabin in addition to expensed activities. Fence projects to provide security at the silver city cemetery and restoration of the picket fence for the mason cemetery in the silver terrace
preservation education and public outreach
fuel reduction:project cleaned up potential fire fodder in the catholic, mason and oddfellows cemetery as well as work done outside the security fence that encompasses all the cemeteries at the silver terrace. This activity was accomplished by recruiting volunteers and volunteer machinery.
