Reviews for Colorado Shakespeare Festival

I have been attending CSF productions for over 40 years, seeing the growth and maturity of the ensemble over time. What started as an "amateur" festival, with local talent, has become a truly professional enterprise. Though the plays remain pretty much the same (the addition of non-Shakespeare works began several years ago), the polish of the presentations and the level of acting has increased greatly. I particularly like the setting of Shakespeare's plays in times and locales far from their original intent, showing just how universal Shakespeare can be.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Getting to know the staff, actors, and other board members, and feeling like my own talents can help to further the goals of the organization.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Enthusiastic and dedicated to furthering the scope of the festival

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Expand its season, perhaps lower ticket prices (especially for youth and seniors) and make Shakespeare even more available to the community.

The Colorado Shakespeare Festival continues to amaze, delight and impress me. The quality of the productions and of the acting company make the experience of attending a performance under the stars in a Colorado summer simply wonderful!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

watching the quality of the productions exceed my expectations year by year

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

give them the money to expand their staff, thereby expanding their capabilities

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

opportunities to interact with the acting company, directors, and designers

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

dedicated,fun, interesting

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

build an organization on par with the Oregon or Utah Shakespeare Festivals which offer longer seasons, more professional opportunities for the company of actors, technicians, directors and designers, and are able to do more educational outreach in schools

Ways to make it better...

there were more options in case of rain

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

lack of funding

One thing I'd also say is that...

The Shakespeare Festival is a unique and special attraction for the University of Colorado, the people of Colorado, and visitors to our state.

The Colorado Shakespeare Festival, a professional theatre company in residence on the campus of the University of Colorado at Boulder, has been performing for more than 50 years. Since 2007, the company has expanded its repertory to embrace classic plays from other cultures, including great American plays. Primarily a summer festival (with the exception of one holiday play), CSF plays "under the stars" and on the University Theater's indoor Main Stage. Picnicking before the plays, a lovely Shakespeare Garden and green shows make this a complete and delightful summer evening experience. Excellent acting and high production values make this festival a "must do" of Coloradans and visitors to the Denver/Boulder area.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

being an audience member for more than 90 plays over 25 years.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

its roots in the community and the tradition of plays "under the stars" in the summertime.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

enthusiastic, intelligent and committed.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Hire more equity actors, flesh out its staff which is struggling under the weight of budget cuts, and utilize the work of more volunteers.
