Center for Furniture Craftsmanship
Arts & Culture, Children & Youth
25 Mill St
The purpose of the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship is to provide the best education possible for people who want to design and build functional, beautiful, expressive furniture to the highest standard of craftsmanship. Founded in 1993, the Center is one of the country's leading schools of furniture making, offering courses from one to twelve weeks duration. The curriculum stresses design along with excellence in craftsmanship, recognizing that woodworking is primarily a means of self-expression, whether or not one does it for income. The faculty are leading professional woodworkers from across the United States, Canada, and England. Each course combines hands-on student work with lecture, demonstration, and extensive individual instruction. Students design and build individual projects as vehicles for learning.
