Mission:

The calvert alliance against substance abuse,inc (caasa)is a grassroots coalition of individuals and orginizations dedicated to fighting substance abuse in calvert county. In addition, caasa is a non-profit corporation that raises funds to support this vital effort.

Programs:

Provide treatment funding to calvert county residents who meet the application requirements as set forth by the bernard johnson charitable remainder trust. Funding may not be used for those who have been ordered by the court to obtain treatment.

provide substance abuse prevention information to the residents of calvert county in an effort to educate them to the dangers of alcohol and other substance abuse. Caasa attends various health fairs and community events to speak to residents and distribute information. In addition, caasa sponsors programs and events to raise awareness to the dangers of substance abuse including alcohol awareness month, red ribbon week, drunk and drugged driving awareness month, youth submits, project graduation,designated driver program, national night out, and calvert county neighborhood watch program.

the calvert county sheriff's office and md state police, barrack "u" provide a mechanism to bring communites together to exchange information and ideas in an effort to make them stronger and safer. Both police agencies assist with national night out and are represented at the calvert county neighborhood watch meeting.
