Keri had encyclopedic knowledge of all captive birds. For those who go on her tour that have birds in their homes, she gives advice about diet, behavioral issues and hormonal events in the birds life. For those who don't have birds but are thinking of getting one, she tells the real truth about having one of these animals living in your house. They don't just sit in a cage and look pretty all day! She works closely with her vet and the community to ensure the safety of all birds, wild and hurt ones. I have personally seen her go to people's houses who have birds and try and help them through times of crisis. Allot of times these birds are religuished in times of human crisis. She will give advice and help where she can but lets the people make up their own mind about what to do when things have to change. She helped me when I was at my wits end with my bird and I've seen her help others in the same way. Her efforts of reform and education on good bird care extend beyond the sanctuary to bird owners too so that the bird can stay in a loving home and healthy environment for the bird. Her birds are well fed, watered And cared for. Unfortunately this is the place for them to go when there is no where else but Keri takes them in and makes sure they have proper cages, water, food, fresh air and sunlight. Basic things that abused and neglected birds do not receive. She has a hoard of people helping her and that is the only way a place this large can withstand the demand of so many unwanted birds. Keri knows how to network and find people who are passionate about birds. She is very warm and welcoming and shares her birds and their lives with all the people who come for her tours. It's a wonderful place in a sea of the overwhelming numbers of homeless and unwanted birds.

I was there visiting & Keri had this nandy conure. She was telling me about him & how he didn't like ir go to anyone but her. I was helping cleaning cages & decided to see if he would come to me, with Keri's permission of course, I took him out of his cage, he stepped up when I asked & he didn't want to leave my side. So I spoke with Keri & we decided that he decided to be my friend, we made the arrangements & he came home to RI a few months later. Today he is happy & well cared for & still doesn't leave my side. It's mutual love & friendship

I went to the Bird Gardens of Naples and volunteered for a week with Keri. She is amazing. I still don't know exactly how she can name every bird she has as well as give a history as to where they came from where they were originally from, their health and personalities. I had the pleasure of working not only with Keri but the birds as well. While working with the birds I found a new forever friend and I can't wait for him to get home. Keri made this decision while seeing me interact with him. He is a Nanday Conure. We took to each other right away. Keri saw the chemistry and how we were with each other and suggested that if I was interested I could adopt him. I love the care she takes in making sure the match is right and that both of us would be happy, it guarantees the bird a forever home. The sanctuary itself is Beautiful and the presentation is Amazing. She not only saved the birds but she also rescued a mini horse, adopted a couple of dogs, has chickens and peacocks. I even enjoyed cleaning cages. Would recommend to anyone of any age, must see!

The Bird Gardens of Naples is a Great organization. The owner Keriellen has put her heart into this. She has saved many birds, rehabilitated them whether behavorial so they can return to their home or rehabilitated them and found them new forever homes. The Bird Gardens of Naples has saved not only feathered friends but has helped in the human emotional process as well for those that have had to give up their friends. Keri is always helpful and will answer any questions you have and is available for emergencies anytime. Great place!

As a parrot lover, there is no doubt in my mind that The Bird Gardens of Naples is the best I've ever seen.
With parrots being the third most popular domestically kept animal as well as the most misunderstood, Keri and her crew of volunteers at Tje Bird Gardens do an amazing job.
The birds are clean, well kept, socialized and loved.
Thank you Keri and staff for all you do for these precious feathered babies.
Well worth a donation as there are over 350 parrots and more coming in every day, who need medical care, food, shelter, training and love.

I met Keri, who runs Bird Gardens of Naples three years ago when we moved to Naples, Florida. We have two Macaws that live with us. When we travel we leave them with Keri. We always have peace of mind when we are away knowing that they are cared properly. Keri is devoted to the birds in the sanctuary and treats them as her children.

My friends and I went to Bird Gardens of Naples in April 2016. We met Keriellen Lohrman who runs this sanctuary. We went on the guided tour as Keri told us all about the parrots there. Some are housed with other parrots while some are alone. I learned that male Umbrella cockatoos can be very aggressive even to a female mate. I learned that most pet parrots would not be happy in a sanctuary because they bonded to a person or people. Some parrots it's the best place for them. Keri took in a 40 yr old wild caught White fronted Amazon that I had. This as the next best place to being free. Bella is now outside, in an aviary, with friends. As it should be.

What a great bunch of people helping out hundreds of parrots in need!!! Keri gives tours explaining about each of the birds. She is like the Bird-whisperer - she is absolutely amazing around all the birds. It is very educational to find out about all the different types of parrots, where they come from, what they eat, and how long they can live. I recommend this non-profit organization to everyone!

We are volunteers and have adopted birds from the Bird Garden of Naples. While volunteering we found the birds well cared for by caring people. Some rescues were thought by others to be beyond help but with love and attention they were rehabilitated. The Bird Garden of Naples gets five stars in our opinion.
