Mission: Making Military Life Easier.

Results: In 2012: - The ASYMCA helped make military life easier for 500,000 military and their families. - We partnered with the USO to send hundreds of military children to camp. - Provide 1,000 new Military Families monthly with free YMCA or Private Fitness Memberships through a partnership with the YMCA and the Department of Defense. - We provide free childcare for thousands of Military Families dealing with illness,through our Teddy | Child Watch Programs at our Military Hospital locations during appointments. - With one grant, the ASYMCA was able to impact 12, 772 Military Families with emergency assistance through a partnership with Newman's Own and the Fisher House.

Target demographics: Military, Military Families, Enlisted Military, Military Children, Wounded Warriors, Active-Duty, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard, Army, Active Guard and Reserve, and Wounded, Injured and Ill.

I want to thank this wonderful organization for making my baby girl a quilt while my husband is deployed. We have not received it yet, but I know it'll be beautiful. It's amazing how some people take their time and make such a great memory for a stranger. I know she'll love it and we really really appreciate everything that's been done to the families of deployed soliders.

I volunteered for the ASYMCA in San Diego while I was stationed there. They have many great programs, and I was happy to get involved and support. Two of the most memorable ASYMCA programs I volunteered for included The Christmas You Missed and the Father-Daughter Dance. Both of these events have a lasting postive impact on San Diego's military families and each year grow larger and larger as word gets out more. I also helped out at the Drew Brees Celebrity Invitational Golf Tournament. This tournament benefits several charities including the ASYMCA and was just a fun event to be a part of.

I have volunteered with the San Diego branch of the ASYMCA for the past 7 years. They are a great organization that comes up with creative ways to help out our military. One of my favorite events they put on is Christmas You Missed every year in July where they recreate Christmas in July for those that were deployed with all details such as Santa, cookie/ gingerbread house decorating, and presents covered. They are a unique organization that has such a great impact on their community. They are well known and valued by all in the San Diego area that only adds to their nataional impact. When you are volunteering, you see the results immediately of your hard work. They set it up so their volunteers have no doubt that their work is worth the while and that they are volunteering at the best Non-profit in the nation.
