Archway foal rescue is a great program! they care for the babies and use gentle but effective techniques in training them and are some of the sweetest horses i have met. you can tell the foals are well loved while waiting for their forever home. i know of many horse resues but not many that specialize in the babies like Archway does while commiting to training them for a few years before adopting out. Love them!

Archway Foal Rescue and Training puts their animals first and directly addresses the issue of the unwanted horse in the Equine Industry. They take their time with training to make sure the horse learns to the best of it's ability.

I love this ranch! They take in 2 wild Sandwash Basin foals/yr and commit to raising them for 2-3 yrs. to become an adoptable, rideable horses -- and then find them homes. I've personally met all of their wards, and they are sweet and friendly. They use natural horse training methods that are compassionate, and practice natural healing methods to treat whatever comes up. They open up the ranch on a regular basis to have people present training methods, healing modalities, etc. and just to see, and hang around with all the horses. They rely on volunteers to help them with their mission and are involved with a great community that supports them. A lot of the foals born out in the wild get their little ears frostbitten, and they have this one horse (Rugby) who I just love. He has this white face with blue eyes, and these stumpy little ears....he's a character! Bolted out of the trailer and practically bowled them all down -- hence his name! They have 2 miniature donkeys that help out around the place, too -- Guido & Paquito!

This group addresses the key issues facing horses at risk today, many horses end up unwanted because of lack of training. Without training, horses are dangerous and scary, hardly a good companion animal. Too often horses are rushed into training situations of a few months, any skill or habit takes time to become permanent. Archway commits four years to building a trusting/loving relationship with these young horses, a foundation they will rely on the rest of their lives. They take a few, the most promising, the babies and give the best start in life. Creating excellent horses for excellent people.
