The American Red Cross - is a wonderful organization. Not only do they serve in national disasters, but most chapters have active local disaster teams which respond to fires and also canteen fire and police departments on prolonger call-outs. Did you know that EVERY service man or woman who is deployed still gets a card and contact for the American Red Cross as one very active component of this organization is to be the official conduit for emergency information to be relayed to service personnel throughout the world! And of course, we have our blood departments which have a very vital contribution. There are so many ways one can volunteer - and so much good that is accomplished. This is a true joy on my life. Get your children started now, in the babysitting training, the lifeguard training, and volunteering in the youth department of your local American Red Cross. This experience will serve them well for the remainder of their lives

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

helping people after fires or other disasters, canteening fire-fighters on huge fires, and contacting officers or divisions to convey messages of a birth, death,or other emergency messages so that our service personnel can get the inforormation they need.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Have educational materials designed for the Elementary student, so that every child learned early on about this organization. Much as police and fire dpartments do.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Helping people - and learning how grateful and courteous some people can be in the face of tremendous loss.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Excellent - without equal!

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Help a lot more people!

Ways to make it better...

I did not have to work full-time and could volunteer full-time.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Funding the tremendous need that arises. Because no matter how prepared we are - an event like Hurricase Katrina - effected more people than one could ever imagine!

One thing I'd also say is that...

The American Red Cross is a wonderful organization. Please give generously as your $ truly does go to those in need - plus a portion supports the efforts of our Armed Forces!

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every week
