This chorus is more than a performing ensemble. It’s a community that gives space for people to learn more about themselves and each other through singing. Harmony has multiple meanings in the context of the way this organization works. From days dedicated to helping people learn about singing to wonderful performances that feature small ensembles, soloists, and the entire chorus lifting their voices together, the Alexandria singers are a pivotal part of the culture in the Washington DC metro area.
This group of singers are extraordinary. There were over 100 performers who left us wanting more after two hours! There was a pianist, upright bass, drums and 100 singers! The beginning started with a "California Dreamin' medley." It was if it was the Mama's and the Papa's times 25! The harmonies were perfect. Hard to believe that it got better and better as the afternoon moved on. I believe no one was paid anything. This is a non-profit to support. I do not want to wait until Christmas to hear this greup again. Please schedule something sooner! ...How did the Music Director of this group do this!
I have loved to sing all my life, but for the first 50 years I was afraid to let anyone hear me. So I suppressed that part of myself and avoided all choirs, bands, and other forms of public singing. Even after finally joining the church choir I had no idea how to sing and no confidence to try. More than one person sat next to me and said, “I can’t hear you at all.”
Then I found The Alexandria Singers “Sing for Your Life” workshops. I attended two of these events, which are made available to the community free of charge, for anyone who wants to learn how to sing, or how to sing better.
The transformation was amazing. Not only was I able to project my voice and be heard, but my confidence improved, both as a singer and as a person. I still remember the day that a fellow church choir member sitting in front of me turned around and said, “I can hear you!” He had a smile on his face, so I assume he liked what he heard.
I enjoyed singing in public so much that I decided to audition for The Alexandria Singers, because I wanted to sing even more, and I needed a social life. They accepted me in every sense of the word. The more I sang with them, the more confident I got. There are still moments during rehearsals or even performances, when I think to myself “Who is this person inside my body? This is not the shy introvert that I used to be. This is a much more confident shy introvert.”
The Alexandria Singers work so hard to positively impact the local community. I've only been a part of the organization for 2 years and I've already seen them bring so much joy to the community through artistry, education, and service. The Singers has had a huge impact on my life and I'm proud to be a part of an organization that offers a pay-what-you-wish ticketing model to make our music more accessible, "Sing for your Life" free vocal workshops, partnerships to offer free/discounted tickets to underserved populations, and performances at local events to bring the joy of music to Alexandria!

We’re equally lucky to have you! Thank you.
Great mix of hard work in preparing a demanding repertoire and having fun performing. Only strong congeniality and a true service spirit can do it. Shows are a uplifting, but if you truly want to experience the "singers soul", go to their auditions and join them!

The Alexandria Singers is as much an extended family as it is a chorus. Members make a point of making prospective members sincerely welcome, and their sense of making and giving to community is paramount. One of the most hearth warming activities is their annual holiday singing at the shelter: sharing the love of songs with people who’s suffering dilutes the pain and engenders happiness. We all feel embraced and included in one song.

Thank you for sharing your talents and thoughtful words with us!
Holiday Pops 2023 was my first performance with The Alexandria Singers and what an amazing experience!!
I encourage any wanna-be singers to audition and if you rather just listen, come to one of our performances. You will be happy you did!

The Alexandria Singers are wonderful, enthusiastic, energetic, and professional performers. I call their repertoire of popular songs “feel good music” - always uplifting. I have been to most of their shows over the past 10 years and make it a point to make every one if possible. Highly recommend!

I became a member of the Alexandria Singers in 2013 and it has been a true blessing in my life. I have made wonderful new friends, it enables me to sing “feel good songs” that are fun, inspiring and uplifting to me and audiences we perform for, and it has been a wonderful way to give back to the community in multiple ways.
The Alexandria Singers is a genuine force for good.

AlexSingers 06/27/2022
"A genuine force for good." Wow! Thank you, friend. We are so proud to have such amazing members, volunteers, and patrons and to have a positive impact on their lives.
We were privileged to be able to purchase a ticket for the virtual matinee. We live in Montreal but wanted to see our daughter perform. I am so thankful they made it available for people who could not be there in person. The performance was enjoyable; the variety of music was great! The choir had a splendid sound. And I was able to see my daughter!
I had the opportunity to attend an Alexandria Singers concert. I was in awe of the talent before me as they performed. They impressed with not only their vocal talent, but enjoyable choreography that accompanied some of the songs. I left the performance with a heart full of joy and inspiration to join the premiere pop's chorus myself. I am now a member and honored to combine my talent with theirs. It brings a smile to my face each time we share our the gift of music with others. I highly encourage the reader of this review to attend a concert, and/or consider joining the Alexandria Singers yourself. We also appreciate the selfless donations made to our chorus.

Thank you for the thoughtful words - we are lucky to have your talent among us!!
As an alumni "Singer", I can only say there is simply no better musical pops chorus in the Washington DC metropolitan area and beyond! Alexandria is blessed with an array of fine musical groups, but if you want to be truly moved by a finely trained, and well rehearsed group...look no further. It is a solid organization that is led and supported correctly, and makes a significant contribution to improving lives and character.
If you are looking for a group to support, know that it is a worthy cause whether you donate, volunteer or JOIN (to sing) you will be richly rewarded in every regard. GREAT show this year!! Thanks.

What a profound success.
Our first opportunity to sing for the Fairfax County Park Authority turned out to be a great concert at the Grist Mill Park in the Mount Vernon area of Fairfax County. We certainly look forward future concerts working with the FCPA.
Being a part of this choir has been life giving! Not only do we get to bring joy through music to the community by singing for them, but this group is committed to finding creative ways to serve the community through the gift of music - with things like free vocal coaching sessions to caroling over the holidays.

AlexSingers 12/10/2023
Elissa, we are so lucky to have your voice in our group and your spirit in support of us!
Alexandria Singers always delivers with their concerts! I have thoroughly enjoy each and every one. My granddaughter Bella delighted in attending starting at 2 years old. She especially enjoyed the Holiday Concerts where she could sing along and see Santa! What a gift Alexandria Singers to the community!

AlexSingers 09/03/2023
Thank you for your ongoing support of the Singers! Bella’s presence from the audience brings joy to our members as well!
The Alexandria Singers give wonderful performances that inspire and entertain.

AlexSingers 09/02/2023
Thanks for your ongoing support!!
This group, which apparently has been around since the mid-1970s, puts on some great performances, mostly popular songs and show tunes.. Dozens of singers onstage sing some great songs accompanied by piano and occasionally by other musical instruments. They also have some solo, duet and small group acts. From time to time, they join forces with other area groups for collaborative performances.
I have been attending their performances for about a decade and highly recommend the group.
They have public performances in June and in December each year and also do some special events and pop-up performances at festivals. Prices are reasonable and they even had a “pay what you can” series this year (2023).
I just wish they will bring back their cabarets, which they used to present each February but apparently stopped for reasons unrelated to the pandemic. The cabarets are fun and I hope they will resume.
Thank you!
Gil Shamir

AlexSingers 09/02/2023
Thank you, Gil!! The Cabaret variety show is one of our absolute favorites!! It started as a pretty significant fundraiser but since returning to in-person performances venue pricing and availability has made it a bit more difficult to host it as we did in the past. We haven’t given up on the show itself and the Board is always looking to re-work timing or venue needs to relaunch this specific show style. Stay tuned!
The Alexandria Singers is a wonderful organization with the mission of uniting the community based on the shared joy of vocal performance. As the premier Pops Chorus in the DC Metro area, the Singers represent all genders, ages, and diverse musical backgrounds. Delightful performances during the Holiday and Spring seasons are complemented with community-focused vocal workshops, a winter Cabaret, and multiple outreach initiatives. Best of all, it’s a fun group with talented, friendly, and energetic members!

AlexSingers 09/02/2023
Thank you, Dan!
I love singing with the Alexandria Singers! It is the most welcoming auditioned choir. The group is diverse in age, nationality, sexual orientation, and is beautifully balanced by singer voice parts. I love our commitment to access by the community, including our free voice workshops and our pay-what you can ticketing when we have concert sponsors. Most of all, I love the music we share in Alexandria, Virginia and beyond under the direction of Bill Colosimo, a wonderful conductor and all around fun, great guy! My first concert series with the Alexandria Singers was Spring 2023 and we sang and danced for more than 500 patrons from our DMV community! And I support this group financially because I believe in our mission of joy through music!

AlexSingers 09/02/2023
Thank you for your ongoing support! We proud to have you within our organization.
I joined the Alexandria Singers in the fall of 2021. Pandemic restrictions were still in place so the first 6 months of rehearsals were first online, and then masked in-person. Even with that, I still got a feeling of deep community and joy from this group.
Two years in, I can now say some of my best friends in town are Singers. This is a talented, warm, accepting group that also happens to put on delightful performances twice a year! Highly recommend!

AlexSingers 09/02/2023
Thank you for all your hard work in support of both our organization’s operations and creative experiences!
Alexandria SIngers is a delightful community chorus. They sing at a number of venues throughout the community from big seasonal concerts to parades, pop-ups, and a variety of free events throughout the year. They also offer free singer training workshops to spread and share the joy of singing. This is a wonderful non-profit group and a true community asset.

AlexSingers 09/02/2023
Thank you for your support of the arts throughout Alexandria!
Performing with the Alexandria Singers is an experience that is hard to put into words. The group’s passion for music and singing is evident in every note they sing. The sense of family and community among the members is palpable, and it’s a big reason why I have stayed with the group for over 15 years.
One of the most impressive things about the Alexandria Singers is that they perform without holding music or having the director in front of them. This requires a level of skill and dedication that is truly remarkable. It allows the singers to connect more deeply with the music and with each other, creating a truly magical experience for both performers and audience members alike.
Overall, performing with the Alexandria Singers is an experience that I would highly recommend to anyone who loves music and singing. The group’s commitment to excellence, their sense of community, and their unique approach to performing make them one of the most exciting pops choruses around.

I just attended my third holiday concert. I am continually amazed at the talent of such a diverse group of singers and musicians. The concert has become a definite holiday must. The Singers bring such joy to the community. Young and old in the audience are enthralled and leave the concert feeling jubilant.

Thank you for taking the time to leave such a nice review! We're glad to have become a part of your holiday traditions. Be sure to follow us to learn more our upcoming 2018 shows!
I've been a volunteer member with the Singers for about 10 years and have very much enjoyed being a part of this fun and productive group. We meet, we sing, we participate in community events to share our love of song, and we make new friends in Alexandria. What is more powerful than that?

AlexSingers 09/02/2023
Thank you for using your gifts to enhance our group!
Fun, relaxing evening! The singers were delightful. I felt as if I was watching friends and neighbors share their joy of singing!

AlexSingers 06/27/2022
Thank you for attending our recent performance and sharing in our joy!
Group singing brings so many benefits to both the individual singer and also to the community - mind, body and soul. Everyone loves music, and with training and practice the human voice is the sweetest instrument of all. Anyone who wants to learn how to sing can learn, yes anyone! That's the message from the Alexandria Singers and they back it up with free lessons and workshops.
The Alexandria Singer shows are fun and inspiring, both for the audience and the singers, but the training and practice is also a great experience - learning and growing as a person and as a part of the group. Karaoke is fun, all singing is fun, but it just doesn't compare with the feeling of joining voices in harmony where the whole is greater than the parts. And with help from the Alexandria Singers anyone can learn and become part of it - what a wonderful thing.
Alexandria Singers is a welcoming and fun-loving group of music-lovers. We come from all levels in terms of our musicianship -- some cannot read music, others studied it in college. Everyone participates at 100%, no matter the background.
We're all committed to creating amazing productions, and, more importantly, to creating a genuine feeling of community.
I've been a season ticket holder for many years and always enjoy the concerts. Last night's was probably my favorite ever. As I said to one of the singers upon leaving, it was akin to a religious experience. I loved both the music and the theme, ''One Voice." Grateful appreciation to the director Bill Colosimo, and to the Singers.
I have attended many choral concerts in the DC are, including the Alexandria Singers, over the years. However, The Alexandria Singers seem to be the group that I enjoy more every year and that I feel is truly moving forward in presentation, talent and theme. Over the past few years the shows have become increasingly more professional and sophisticated, whereas in the earlier years the concerts, especially the holiday concert, was quite juvenile and geared towards children. The backdrops are simple and elegant, and the reflective narrations are quite touching. With the addition of a few classical pieces and what seems to be a larger men's section, the power of this group is quite amazing. If you have a chance, go see this group.

A friend of mine has been in the Alexandria Singers for many years. It has been fun to see her in shows and see her get better and better as a performer. Everyone associated with the group is kind and giving. They do a holiday gift program every year for a homeless shelter. It's always impressed me that they are not only doing what they love, but also working to help the community in different ways. Great Job Alexandria Singers!
The Alexandria Singers bring the joy of music to so many lives! If you are in the audience, you will feel the emotion of the Singers. Their mission of music education reaches children and adults empowering us all to SING! Anyone who loves to sing, but is hesitant should meet this warm, welcoming and supportive group and give it a shot! Sit in on one of our open rehearsal guest nights coming in January!

The Alexandria Singers are a wonderful group of performers bringing music and dance to Alexandria. They’re talented, hard working and committed to sharing the gift of music and music education with the community. I am so proud to be a member.

This is a fabulous group that I joined in September of 2016. I must say that I have enjoyed everything about it...Good music, good people. Come out and hear us. You will enjoy yourself, too!
I participate in this nonprofit and the lives of my husband, wider family, and friends have all benefited from the joy and fellowship we receive from the Alexandria Singers. The Singers provide both an opportunity to express my vocal and dramatic talents and my desire to give back to the community. From singing in holiday concerts to Cabarets, for a local homeless shelter, and community arts events, the ability to volunteer my talents to bring smiles to those in the community has been greatly enhanced by the Singers. Come out to our shows, support us as an organization committed to service, or better yet, audition to join us!
What a great group of talented singers! We love the holiday show and it puts us all in the mood for Christmas! Thank you for sharing your wonderful music with the community.

AlexSingers 12/22/2016
Thank you for joining us in the audience!! We can't do what we do without our patrons support! Merry Christmas and we hope to see you March 18th for our annual Cabaret and Silent Auction, this year at Metro Stage!!
The Alexandria Singers have been and continue to be one of the premier pops choruses in the DC area, and maybe even the entire region!! I was privileged to attend this year's "Reflections" holiday performance on Saturday night, and it was wonderful -- extraordinary vocal quality, complete engagement of every performer on stage, a variety of musical genres, culturally representative (both the repertoire and the chorus members themselves), and thoroughly entertaining. As a professional musician and singer (and having put on countless concerts and performances myself), I can honestly say that this group embodies all that is good vocal craft and high entertainment value! Don't miss this group's upcoming performances -- you won't be sorry!

AlexSingers 12/12/2016
Thank you for your support of our organization and recognition of our "Reflections" performance! Our arts partners and friends are a true value to us and what we do, and we're so proud to have you among our patrons.
It was an amazing concert. Alexandria singers have quite a varied repertoire from classic songs to broadway to funny scenes. It keep the public entertained and the quality of the harmonies and voices was superb! This is definitely a must see concert and group and I can't wait to go see them in the next concert.

AlexSingers 12/12/2016
Thank you for attending "Reflections!" Save the date, March 18, 2016 @ MetroStage in Alexandria for our Cabaret!
I had an opportunity to see the Alexandria Singers at several venues, including a private country club in Alexandria, VA, and they have been terrific every single time! Great energy, very well rehearsed, tight harmonies, and a very happy and enthusiastic group of performers.

AlexSingers 01/05/2016
Thank you for your kind words and for coming to see us! We had a wonderful time at that performance and we hope to return, if invited! Happy New year!
I attended The Alexandria Singers holiday show "Reflections" last month, and although I've ALWAYS enjoyed their performances, this one was exceptionally outstanding! I've attended approximately 4 performances in the past three years and am so impressed by the growth of the group both in size and in quality. The sound, blend and dynamics were splendid! From fun, to touching to poignant - this performances was an absolute delight! Go see this group whenever you have a chance!

AlexSingers 01/04/2016
Thank you for attending our holiday concert, your continued patronage, and for your flattering review! We hope to see you in our audiences for our Winter Cabaret in February and our 40th Anniversary Show in June, 2016!
The Alexandria Singers presented a concert at Mount Aventine in Chapman State Park, Indian Head, Maryland in October 2015 as part of our "inaugural" season of free concerts in the Park.
The music was great and the Singers were very supportive in helping organize and publicize this event. A very enjoyable afternoon with a great group of people. We would love to repeat the event next year. We applaud their efforts to expand their good work to our side of the Potomac. Thanks to all.

AlexSingers 01/04/2016
We were so happy to come to the other side of the Potomac to share our music! Thank you for having us at your lovely venue!
The first time that I heard the Alexandria Singers perform I knew that this was the group for me. The music is fun, warm, and engaging, bringing pleasure to the singers and their audience. The sense of community among the singers is palpable and infectious. The opportunity for the Alexandria Singers to spark joy in communities throughout the D.C. metro area is boundless. Come see for yourself!
I have been singing with this community-based adult show chorus since 2001. It is one of the most important and meaningful aspect to my life and happiness. It combines my joy of singing and performing, with a group of people who have become not only dear friends, but also a family in how we care for and support each other. Additionally, our music director and creative director have significantly raised the bar over time in the quality of our performances and by providing training and education to elevate our capabilities. Joining the Alexandria Singers is one of the best decisions I've ever made.
I have been a member of the Alexandria Singers for 19 years. I love to sing and enjoy the type of music we perform, which is unique to the Washington, DC, metropolitan area. Along with having a great sound, the singers are a wonderful group of people who get along with each other and have fun! Over the years we have sung at many locations in the area, with many repeat performances. We also recently had the opportunity to sing Rodgers & Hammerstein music in Salzburg, Austria, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the filming of "The Sound of Music!" This was an incredible experience for the group.
I have been a member of the Alexandria Singers since 1999. When I joined The Singers it was a fun group that performed music I enjoyed. Over the years the group has become more and more professional and has attracted some very talented singers. It's amazing how much of an impact the small changes that our director, Bill Colosimo, asks us to make affect the groups' sound quality. Our artistic director, Karen Reedy, is an exceptional teacher who creates choreography that looks great while also being simple enough that it doesn't get in the way of our singing. In addition to our main performances, we also sing at city events, retirement homes, shelters, and other community organizations. We put on high-quality shows for free or low costs that our audiences enjoy and we have a great time doing it.
I was invited to an Alexandria Singers performance by a friend who sings with them. What a delightful evening! The performance was enjoyable, the singers were fantastic and talented, and a good time was had by all. If you are in the Alexandria, VA area (or anywhere in the DC Metro, for that matter), check them out. Highly entertaining with just the right amount of cheeky humor -- appropriate for all!
We thoroughly enjoyed the performances we've seen by these very talented performers. It's excellent entertainment that makes for a very nice date night.
I started singing with the Alexandria Singers this year and am increasingly impressed with the good hearts and voices of everyone I've met in the group so far. They care about making others happy and strive to do so through their singing. Terrific organization!
The Alexandria Singers changes people's lives through the wonderful performances of "feel good pops music," through donations of their time and talent to community activities, organizations and causes, and through the amazing community of men and women - from their 20's to their 70's - who share a love of singing and performing and socializing with each other and bring joy to others through their singing.
I joined The Alexandria Singers two years ago after I moved to Virginia, following the death of my husband, and they changed my life profoundly. They brought music back into my life, and a whole new "family". I urge anyone who loves "feel good music" to attend our performances, and anyone who loves to sing to come to one of our "Guest Nights" in January and September and audition to join The Alexandria Singers.
Alexandria Singers does: FAR EXCEED EXPECTATIONS!
Sitting in the audience listening and watching them perform makes you WANT TO JUMP OUT OF YOUR SEAT AND RUN TO THE STAGE TO SING RIGHT WITH THOSE ON THE STAGE SINGING!
If you have song in your heart, Alexandria Singers is the group you ought to be part of!
I DID!!!!
The singers are wonderful. They bring song to everyone they can reach. They perform uplifting songs that make you feel something and the group as a whole embraces you. I'm proud to be one of them and try to bring new singers to the group so they can enjoy it as much as I do..
The Alexandria Singers are a top notch singing group. Our focus is on producing a quality sound that is well produced and well balanced. Plus, we have a lot of fun singing and dancing. If you get the opportunity to see one of our shows or concerts, GO! You will not be disappointed.
A diverse, fun, and very talented group of people that under the leadership of an excellent director (Bill Colosimo) perform the most wonderful music! Simply the best!
We have been to many events of the Alexandria Singers. The shows are lively, fun, and truly enjoyable.
I am pleasantly surprised at this groups talent. Their performances are always wonderful to watch. This group is total volunteer. I Love being part of the audience. The provide performances that exceed what one would expect from an all volunteer cast. Great Job Singers Keep Going Strong. If you have ever wanted to perform in a group this is one to be in.
I saw the Alexandria Singers perform "Beatles to Broadway" in June of this year in concert with the Washington Metropolitan Philharmonic at a packed Masonic Auditorium in Alexandria, VA. The Singers performed their tribute to the music of Rodgers and Hammerstein. The Singers' performance was fantastic. Indeed, it inspired me to then participate in the Singers' community outreach program in July in the form of a singing workshop entitled "Sing For Your Life," and to then audition with and join the Singers. The Alexandria Singers are indeed a wonderful group, providing exceptional benefit to the community as they perform for many diverse audiences at various locations throughout the DC metro area and elsewhere.
I've been to many shows and concerts put on by the Singers - always a great, entertaining time. They've really grown in the last year or so and honed in on their talent. Hope they continue in this direction for years to come!
This is such a great group of people! Diverse in ages, backgrounds, ethnicities, and singing experience, but united in a goal to perform and bring joy to others through music. This group brings value to the life of its members and showcases beautiful performance art with high quality flair for the community. Fabulous music, wonderful people, and infectious joy!
Singing, Dancing, Community, Jazz Hands - what more could you want?! A truly spectacular, talented group which brings entertainment and joy to many. Whether you are a member or watching a performance as a patron, The Alexandria Singers will not disappoint!
The Alexandria Singers truly embody artistry, musicianship, and community. It is a group of talented and sincere individuals whose efforts capture and spread beauty and solidarity to their members and the people around them. It's been a privilege to be a part of this group and I'm excited for the future of the organization. Keep being awesome, Singers!
The Alexandria Singers is a great organization bringing pops choral music to the DC area--and it's the only one of its kind! The creative team and the board all work tirelessly to create a fun and exciting environment for people to share their talents, and bring quality musical entertainment to the community. If you haven't been to a show, you should go--it's always a good time.
A group of dedicated, professional singers. They always have an entertaining and uplifting show. I try to attend every performance unless I' out of town.
The Alexandria Singers inspire their community with art, music, and passion! Patrons have noted that you can truly feel the fun among the group, and you are swept up into it as if you, too, are on stage performing. As a 100% volunteer singer group, the members do this because they love it. Through workshops and community performances, they spread this love and passion to others.
This group's music is moving and the heart that they have is so joyful! I am proud to say that The Alexandria Singers are in my community. Music makes a difference!!
I was looking for an enjoyable experience and the Alexandria Singers did not disappoint! Wonderful voices and delightful staging made my heart sing! I've seen and heard two shows at two different venues and both made me happy.
I would not be who I am today without this organization. I have learned so much not only about singing, but also about leading and organizing people and projects. Since joining in January 2012 and joining the board in Spring 2014, The Alexandria Singers has brought fun and singing back into my life.
I joined the Alexandria Singers two years ago and it was one of the best things I've ever done. Wonderful people with amazing talents. The creative staff is dedicated, professional and fun! If you love to sing, audition! If you love a fun entertaining show, attend a performance. If you want an amazing addition to your next event, hire The Alexandria Singers!
