I love volunteering at NBCF! My mom had breast cancer and received a HOPE Kit and is in their support groups. My family and I volunteer there because we know how much the work impacts real families. I have a disability and they have made special volunteer opportunities for my class and others to volunteer. Everyone we meet there is very nice. They always make my time volunteering fun with great music while we work.

I applied for the Susan Grant. Turned in all the documentation , doctor signed the document provided with all her information. I get an email back from the Susan organization stating that the information my doctor filled out was not sufficient because it did not have a Doctor letterhead on it. It just baffles me that you have all the information, including a phone number to where you can personally talk to the doctor, but you want cancer patient to continuously harass the doctor to fill out paperwork, confirming what she already confirmed but you want a letterhead.. I reached out to customer service, which was horrendous. The representative was very disrespectful and rude.. If you are looking for help, I would recommend you look within other foundations.

Rebuilding Together North Texas has profoundly impacted the lives of many who found themselves living in unsafe homes with no other alternatives. I see the dedication and intense drive lived out on a daily basis from the volunteers, Executive Team, and fellow Board members, which allows us to tackle the many challenges that arise during critical home repairs and remodels. From excavating and leveling foundations to weatherproofing and replacing roofs, I have seen this organization take on projects that others have said "no" to time and time again. With sponsors like Beck, Home Depot, Lowes, Target, Frost Bank, Trinity Bank, Texas Capital Bank, and many many others, we are able to create safe and thriving communities. This non-profit is top line, so easy to access and everyone I spoke with was helpful and went out of their way to help me. I had a very high co-pay for medication to cure the Hep C virus I have had without knowing it for over 40 years, and they covered the copay. The grant was approved the same day as the application. This is life-saving. I thank God for this assistance since I am retired and am living from Social Security check to Social Security check, and this made my cure possible.

While I am also an active volunteer with GALT, the most important role they have played in my life is introducing me to my last three greyhounds, Rex, Philip, and Jed. They take the placement of the hounds in their care very seriously, and are always available if questions arise. The board of directors continues to help GALT remain a resource for hounds and humans alike.

This organization has a truly genuine heart for people and for serving through faith. Being part of their apprenticeship showed me how intentional and caring they are in the way they support children and communities. Their work feels personal, not transactional. I still sponsor a child through them today because I trust them and believe in what they’re doing. Supporting this organization is meaningful and real. 🤍

I’m proud to serve on the board of Sons of the Flag, an organization that truly lives up to its mission of supporting survivors beyond the burn. For over a decade, SOTF has been a compassionate and strategic force in the burn care community — helping military members, first responders, and civilians navigate the long and challenging journey of recovery after traumatic burn injury.  The organization goes far beyond awareness — funding advanced medical fellowships, supporting cutting-edge research, and providing personalized assistance to survivors and families when insurance and traditional support fall short. What I most appreciate is the heart behind the work: a community of passionate medical professionals, volunteers, and advocates who recognize that no one heals alone. Whether through survivor support, fellowship funding, or nationwide task forces, Sons of the Flag has made a real difference in thousands of lives.

My 28-year-old son has been attending Coventry since 2019. He has moderate autism, epilepsy and other health impairments, but he loves attending Coventry all four days they are in session per week. Since joining Coventry, his sense of purpose and confidence has skyrocketed. He has a creative outlet, working in the clay and glazing areas, creating beautiful pieces of pottery. He enjoys outdoor activities through the Horticulture class and has had his artwork picked several times for use on mugs or notecards, which are sold to the public in the gift shop. Coventry is unique in its approach to train the individuals in the Brain Building Center, then provide an outlet for the participants to apply what they have learned in the BBC on Clay and Glazing. In addition to the primary components listed above, Coventry offers Horticulture, Art and is hoping to expand their life Enrichment Center to include a teaching kitchen for culinary classes. The staff and volunteers are patient & caring.

MLFA performs greatly needed services that impact civil rights for all under-represented groups. It does its best work when in collaboration with other organizations. The attorneys and litigation support staff could all easily make between twice and, literally, ten times what they earn working for this nonprofit if they worked for law firms. But they all choose to work at MLFA, which speaks volumes for the mission. It's not perfect, nor is any nonprofit (or for-profit entity, for that matter) and the internal processes leave room for improvement. But the mission, and devotion of those who work there, is as sincere as it gets and the money goes exactly where the organization says it does--no hidden deep pockets anywhere. They do as much great work as they can and would do more if they had more. The legal division operates as a nonprofit law firm and respects the professional requirements that come with that.

It's amazing to see our veterans, first responders and family members have a positive change from the time they show up to an event until they leave. Sometimes they show up with a heaviness, or stressed, or anxious. When they leave an event, their demeanor is lighter, happier and more positive. HOW holds regularly scheduled events, and participants can come back as frequently as they like. This really helps "lock in" the healing, and gives everyone, including volunteers, a chance to relax and reconnect. It's an amazing experience - one filled with grace, support and generosity. The participants are treated respectfully and are never expected to tell stories they don't want. It's really about just leaving all the trouble on the water, and having a way to continue to enjoy life, have a new purpose, and create a brotherhood / sisterhood that so many of our heroes miss. It's worth it to find a chapter close to you and participate or volunteer.

I’ve been a volunteer since April 2025. I am so thankful to FRAS for helping my foster dog with his medical expenses. He went from bald & depressed to furry & energetic!

I retired in 2024, and was seeking volunteer involvement with a unique organization that would allow me to utilize my background as an EA and contribute administrative assistance duties that would contribute directly to the success of the organization. <br><br>I found all this with In-Sync. I was welcomed with open arms and have since been assisting with donor relations as well as having small parts in some events. <br><br>Prior to applying as a volunteer, I researched online using various searching techniques and then made a solo visit to the facility and walked the grounds. I was impressed with the cleanliness of the enclosures and the obvious great care of the animals. There were colored T-Shirts (I later learned these shirts reflect varying levels of expertise) busy in many areas, working on cleaning enclosures, and maintenance of the grounds. Being a cat lover, I was in love, my first visit. <br><br>I continue to be very impressed, and touched, with the level of attention and care these creatures receive – most certainly, regarding their health. Some arrive in very poor shape and are nursed back to health. They receive scheduled health maintenance from teeth to tail. Special focus is given to the happiness of each animal. These folks really know these creatures - their likes, dislikes, favorite foods and even their favorite toys. <br><br>Since I started in August of 2024, I have met some of the warmest hearts and dedicated people who are Staff as well as long-time volunteers. The volunteers are much appreciated, and it shows. The learning opportunities are endless and fascinating. The opportunities are never forced and if I cannot, or choose not to, participate in a certain event or task, it's never an issue. This makes it a extremely pleasant experience. and lends directly to the desire to stay a part of In-Sync. <br><br>This has been a wonderful experience for me. I am so glad that I took that step and reached out to them.

ISF has been one of the most helpful organizations on my academic journey. From their scholarships, to networking opportunities, I have grown as result of their hard work and effort towards us students. I really appreciate everything they’ve done for all of us Irving ISD students.

I am a survivor of domestic violence who was evicted from Hope’s Door New Beginning Center (Plano, TX) along with two other mothers—one disabled with multiple sclerosis. We were removed over basic hygiene items like acne cream and dryer sheets. No violence. No disruption. No due process. In total, 10 people were displaced, including 6 children. Hope’s Door reports over $5.7 million in annual revenue, including funding for transitional housing, deposits, and move-in fees. Yet I received no housing support, no case management, and no basic necessities. My children and I are now sleeping in our car. After I spoke out publicly, a friend still inside the shelter reported that 30 brand new plates suddenly appeared. That’s what the shelter responded to—not trauma, not homelessness, not the fact that children were pulled out of school and forced into crisis. The Dallas Area Parkinsonism Society, better known as DAPS is a strong and growing North Texas Nonprofit organization that provides services and support to our local citizens who have been diagnosed with Parkinson. They provide programs, classes and support at various levels for those suffering from this disease. In addition their support and services include family and caregivers making this a full circle organization. <br> <br>It is such a pleasure to work and serve with this organization and to watch the daily impact made in the lives of countless individuals. <br> <br>

This NGO operates using the Faith for Muslims, believer in Quran & Sunnah of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH), their actions towards actual Muslims survivor is absolutely opposite. Not only that, they are having fundraising luncheon at Neiman Marcus? Which is a joke on them.TMWF REFUSED or did not provide their Clients with Underwear, Bra's, Shoes and or even any calibration for the Eid ' 2025. My friend stayed there as their Clients. Their service are pick on chose not by who needs the most.

Decided to go to Emilys place to finish my healing journey. However, I ended up with more stress and trauma. <br><br>I'll start by saying for a Domestic Violence shelter, I found it odd that staff not allows residents to use corporal punishment but encourages it. <br><br>I also couldn't figure out of all the classes they offered why there was nothing on Domestic Violence. Then it dawned on me, much of the behavior and nature of the program falls into the wheel of abuse. <br><br>1 . Staff will tell you if you have permission to work somewhere and including the hours. Finishing up college is outright denied. <br><br>2. They want you to have a savings plan, great. However you must get approved to literally buy anything and this includes food, as they serve meals but do not consider dietary restrictions [ like type 2 diabetes] I was asked by primary care doctor to join a gym, denied waste of money. Once you get your savings to a goal, guess what they pick what you are doing. Mine was spending over 20k on a car , before even having a license. And signing up for insurance and putting the manager on it for almost 400 a month. Which would mean if I was existed ( like 80% of the residents) I'd have no insurance or license and not be able to take my car. And if I complete this I'd have 0 savings and paying far toʻo much for insurance <br><br>3. You must get permission to leave the property. And they usually give you a time limit. Even though there's a curfew good luck getting permission to go to see family or friends on your free time. Can't impromptu go to the park on a nice day because if you didn't add something to and get permission they can kick you out.<br><br>4. Staff is aggressive and raises thier voice at residents. Nit picks you, shames you and shares personal information to other residents. Don't worry though staff does the same to each other. <br><br>5. The homes often are not fully occupied. Not just due to the extreme high turn over, they literally just leave the house empty, with the overwhelming amount of people looking for shelter and shelter that are full this should never be an issue. <br><br>6. Staff rifles through clothing donations and discusses pretty obviously that they got them. However, for some reason residents barely get to look <br><br>7 Dinner attendance is 5 nights a week and is mandatory wether you signed up to cook or not. This means you have to be home from work, or grocery shopping etc just to sit at the table. They have programming scheduled directly after also mandatory for 4 nights of the week. So you have little free time, and what time you do have you can't actually do anything without permission. <br><br> You basically sign up to live in a halfway home to live here, and staff seems to have no Domestic Violence training or empathy. Clients have complained about aggressive behavior and yelling done by staff and. Staff simply states your triggers aren't our responsibility.

I am a Student Council sponsor at a Dallas area high school, and I have been bringing my students, my family, and my church youth group to volunteer in the Bonton neighborhood for 15 years. Bridgebuilders is a phenomenal nonprofit organization, and I highly recommend serving here. I love that they start the time of service with a prayer. Everyone is so nice and professional. They are always prepared, organized, and ready for us to serve. I always feel like what they have us doing is purposeful and important in serving the community. They appreciate our service, and I love the fact that they provide a service-learning opportunity, as they always provide background information about how Bonton Farms and Bridgebuilders has formed and what they are doing and what our service is providing. My students are often hesitant serving (just not knowing what to expect mainly) but they always leave feeling like they have positively contributed to a great cause, and they always comment how they are grateful for the opportunity and glad they came. Bridgebuilders is my favorite place to serve, and I highly recommend. It is time worth spent, and you will be asking, "when can I come back?"

I visited Operation Kindness with high hopes, but my experience left me devastated and disillusioned. What was meant to be a place of compassion turned into a nightmare for me and my beloved pet.<br><br>My cat, Titan, was wrongfully surrendered to Operation Kindness by someone who falsely claimed ownership. Despite my frantic attempts to rectify the situation and provide proof of ownership, the organization adopted Titan out within just two days, showing a shocking lack of due diligence.<br><br>When I reached out to Operation Kindness, I was met with indifference and bureaucracy. They refused to acknowledge their mistake or take any meaningful action to reunite me with Titan. Their "kindness" seemed to extend only to potential adopters, not to rightful owners desperately trying to recover their pets.<br><br>This experience has caused me immense emotional distress. Titan wasn't just a pet; he was family. Operation Kindness's actions have torn apart that family, leaving a void that cannot be filled.<br><br>I urge potential adopters and those considering surrendering pets to think twice before engaging with Operation Kindness. Their hasty processes and lack of thorough verification can lead to heartbreaking consequences. A true animal welfare organization should prioritize reuniting lost pets with their owners, not rushing through adoptions without proper checks.<br><br>My story serves as a cautionary tale. While Operation Kindness may have good intentions, their practices can lead to devastating outcomes for both pets and their rightful owners.

I have been a volunteer/servant at the Soul for Christ Ministry Inc for over 12 years. The Lord has continued to allow this ministry to bless so many families with no limits: not bound by location, nationality, or physical appearance. God has given the owner, Bro. Elijah a heart for His people. I have experienced the ups and downs of the ministry continually serving and blessing families even during the COVID epidemic without a shutdown. MI is a great way to give back to the community and help young people at the same time. While it's great to be out working on a project, it's also fun to bring those stories and lessons learned back to workshops and camps. The hands-on learning is why kids come to MI, and I feel good that everyone is learning tried and true methods along with the latest and greatest tips and tricks. MI is the best place for this kind of industry training and life skills development, and it's fulfilling to support their programs.

Leukemia Texas is the best!! Filled with the kindest, most caring individuals! They have been loving on us since my daughter was diagnosed with leukemia and have continued to do so even after she rang the bell and completed her treatment. They cheered us on throughout treatment, celebrated every milestone with us, and sent uplifting thoughts during the hard times. Their gift of patient aid was such a blessing to us in those early treatment days. We are just so thankful for Leukemia Texas and all they do for families like us!
