If you care enough to want to be educated about public policy issues and how you are affected by the goings on in Washington and beyond, take some time and visit their website...nationalcenter.org. You'll come away impressed. Donating to this group is a no-brainer; I feel my money is well spent.

Excellent organization. Unlike many that talk about what it wants to do or what it believes endlessly, the National Center for Public Policy Research constantly puts points on the board. It is extremely effective at figuring out good strategies and executing them with energy. I love its slogan, "a do-tank, not just a think-tank." That's really true.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Give it a billion dollars. If I had a billion dollars.

Definitely

This organization looks more like a right wing Religious lobby lying about the facts and results of policies, and supports ALEC right wing policies including voter suppression, union busting, war on women, anti universal health care, unconstitutional laws on immigration and women's health. This should not be a non-profit and receive tax breaks.http://www.nationalcenter.org/ Some examples include: Why is the Department of Justice Blocking Voter ID?

The National Center for Public Policy Research has several "projects" such as The National Retirement Security Task Force, etc.

These projects simply acquire the names of older people and mail them requests for donations. These requests are sent with letters intended to scare the recipient into donating. Often these requests are sent via Certified Mail in the hope that the recipient will think the contents more important.

My elderly mother-in-law is receiving about 10 mailings a day from various non-profits of this type. She wrote some a check and thus elevated her status to "donor" and she was added to a mailing list that is sold to other
non-profits. The list for the NCPPR is shown here:

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Scaring donations out of the elderly.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Shut them down but they are just one of several hundred such non-profits so it is pointless.

Be VERY careful before giving money to this organization. You will be swamped by mail and they do not honor requests to be removed from mailing lists.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

My relative made multiple donations to this organization to different projects of theirs, all related to the interests of senior citizens. We suspect this outfit makes a lot of its money selling mailing lists because we are swamped by mail.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

eliminate it entirely. I suspect all the positive reviews are from employees.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

retire all officers to Boca Raton

Ways to make it better...

this outfit did not exist

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Postal laws preventing scams

One thing I'd also say is that...

RUN do not walk away from their mail!

Excellence. NCPPR is unsurpassed in both competency and integrity. It is fearless in its defense of our liberties that are so often taken for granted.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

confronting freedom-destroying agendas such as "Invasive Species", Heritage Areas, etc.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

increase staff.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the integrity of all I've met at NCPPR.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

top quality individuals.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

pursue hundreds of FOIAs to flush out the systemic corruption of the modern environmental movement and its incestuous relationship with both the Federal government and certain rent-seeking Big Businesses.

Ways to make it better...

they had a larger staff to pursue all the issues that need attention.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

keeping up with the endemic corruption in Washington.

One thing I'd also say is that...

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every month

The National Center for Public Policy Research is the best organization I know to expose excessive government control over our lives and pocketbooks. They publish Shattered Dreams, with details of victims of government regulatory abuse and property seizure. And in 2009 published Shattered Lives, with dozens of individual examples of failed government health care and deaths in the UK, and other Western countries with socialized medicine. Their research is top-notch and verifiable. They are as good a small organization as Heritage Foundation is a large organization.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

helping conservative Black Leaders in Project 21 getting their voices heard on TV and in newspapers.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the dedication of the staff.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every six months

The National Center is one of the last true non-profits advocating for limited government and constitutional principles. Their work on health care and property rights issues is bar none. Wish there were more of groups like this in DC!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Watching them lead the fight to save the rights of property owners being bullied by the government.

Amy R. is the Queen of Scare Mail. My father receives 5-15 letters from them per day under four different names (maybe more I hadn't realized the association). He started giving to them in 2009 and gave them thousands of dollars little by little. When I found out he was spending all his money, I started tracking his junk mail and putting him on a charity budget. He said he'd hope that the things they were fighting for would be over in 6 months or so. What a laugh. I sent their letters to the State of Utah Consumer Protection, who opened an investigation because of the misrepresentations in the mailings. They've come to a settlement to give my father's money back. Unfortunately, my father isn't the only victim. See article at http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/e/a/1998/02/08/NEWS3642.dtl

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

They've bankrupted my elderly father.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Not use misrepresentations in mailings, and not send out so much junk mail.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

NONE!

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

No personal contact, just financial statements of the large amount of money they receive.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

They do have that much money, and they are spending it on the President and Vice President--husband and wife.

Ways to make it better...

They didn't bombard my father with 10 letters per day of junk mail per person saying they need money urgently. If they needed money so much, why don't the cut down on the junk mail.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Children of the elderly who find out what they are doing.

One thing I'd also say is that...

They are Parasites feeding off the elderly!
