Review for HANDICAPPED PETS FOUNDATION, Amherst, NH, USA
I am the owner of Eddie's Wheels for Pets, Handicapped Pets Foundation was formed as a means of marketing Walkin Wheels, a canine wheelchair company owned by the director of Handicapped Pets. I had the company investigated by the attorney general of NH because altho they purport to assist people in need of mobility aids for disabled pets, the only ones they are willing to provide are the ones they directly profit from - contributions to this foundation assist in the healthy profit margin for a one-size fits all dog wheelchair mass produced in China.
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
They never responded to my request.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
like to see them provide assistance to folks who need custom wheelchairs manufactured by companies that they have no financial interest in.
Response From Mark C. Robinson,
Founder: Handicapped Pets Foundation.
1. In regards to the May 4 post by Leslie DG: we were, indeed investigated thoroughly by the attorney generals office based on her complaint. They found NO FINANCIAL IMPROPRIETY. Neither I nor my company benefited financially from the foundation.
2. More than one dog wheelchair company supplies products to the foundation at a significant discount. Eddies offered only a 10% discount to the foundation. Other companies offered much more.
3. We selected the 501c3 non-profit status so that our transactions are visible and open to the public. People can see how their tax-exempt donations are used. Companies like Eddies Wheels that solicit contributions are not required to do this. In fact, the reason why donations to Eddies Buddy Fund charity are not tax-deductible is because they are treated by the IRS as PROFITS. There is no accountability for what is done with money received or whether product donated is resold at a profit. This is why real charities are willing to be 501c3 non-profits.
4. In regards to the next comment - They never responded to my request - , it was necessary to suspend operations while we were providing data to the attorney general’s office. Hundreds of requests were not responded to. Leslie DG, your unfounded, unwarranted complaint caused the untold suffering of many dogs.
