Review for Cancer Support Community Valley/Ventura/Santa Barbara, Westlake Village, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I joined the Wellness Community during my third month of chemo. They provided loving, emotional support I desparately needed as I struggled to me a mom of three infants (1, 2, and 3 years old). There is no price for the value they provided and I continue to be part of the group as I struggle with recovery and the fear of recurrence. When treatment is over, the pain sets in as does the reality of dealing with cancer and treatment for the rest of your life.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the number of lives touched and the way individuals are given strength to fight for the treatment they deserve.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

more aggressively advertise the services that are available to local businesses and residents.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the variety of classes and educational and emotional opportunities they provide.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

compassionate, loving, and inspirational.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

change the lives of many more people (and their families) that are affected by cancer everyday.

Ways to make it better...

I knew about the organization earlier. I originally thought it was only for people who were dieing. I didn't realize people in treatment need support.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

financial. There is a price for everything and during economic times it is difficult for businesses and people to be too generous.

One thing I'd also say is that...

There is no price tag for the support I have received from the wellness community. They give me hope and inspiration weekly that gives me the strength to do all that I have to do to recover and offer hope to others.

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

Role:  Client Served & I received counseling services and participated in classes.
