Review for Big Sister Association of Greater Boston, Inc., Boston, MA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I've been matched with my Little Sister since she was 11 years old, and she's now 16. We've both gotten so much out of the relationship...her family has made me feel so welcome, and we've both gotten to experience so many new activities together. It's been so great to see her blossom into a confident young woman! The organization provides great support, with social workers checking in with us regularly. We also attended an overnight retreat that had great educational content for teen girls around self-esteem, sex, and other hot topics that I might have felt uncomfortable addressing without their assistance and education. I love that the organization is focused solely on girls and their unique developmental and mentoring needs.

My relationship with my Little Sister. We've both grown together, and while I can't take credit for the amazing person she's become, I like to think I've had a hand in introducing her to some new experiences and broadening her worldview a bit.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Provide some resources that could help support my Little Sister's family. There have been some issues that come up for my Little's guardian that I feel she could use help with that aren't directly in the scope of Big Sisters, but affect my Little's daily life. I wish they could provide more direction as to other non-profits that might be of use to the family.

Role:  Volunteer & I have been paired with my Little Sister for 6 years.

Review for CHILDRENS MUSEUM, Boston, MA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I'm a member of the Children's Museum, and it's been worth every penny! My kids are there at least once a week. We appreciate that there are activities for every age group, from crawlers up through ages 8 or so. Their current exhibit on refugee camps is a great experiential and education exhibit for older kids. We also love that the membership is reciprocal and can be used at many other museums around the country.

As a member, with my own children as well as with my Little Sister.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Be more consistent about listing when certain exhibits and programs will be open. Also, enforce the "no kids over 3" guideline in the Playspace, as older kids occasionally dominate and prevent the younger kids from enjoying.
