I have been honored to be a part of this organization since 1992. Through this organization, I was taught to be a self-defense instructor, and have taken that work to Japan. Through this organization, I gained an understanding of physical, mental, and spiritual power, and also the gift of teaching. CAE has the capacity to spread its philosophy and knowledge of anti-violence and peace through the people they touch, by having incredible curricula, supporting their constituents in their programs, and most of all by providing the foundation of creating a diverse community.

It is unbelievable the effect self-defense has had in Japan. Without the instruction I received at CAE, I would not have been able to do the work I have done in Japan, where it is sorely needed. Self-defense has the capacity to instill confidence in women, and I have seen incredible changes in the students I taught, where their lives were positively influenced as a result of taking a self-defense class.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
A change would only be that this organization be better funded. That might require us to change our world and perspective so that we focus on preventing conflicts, prioritize community building, therefore prioritize funding organizations like CAE.
