Review for Blind Cat Rescue & Sanctuary Inc, St Pauls, NC, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Blind Cat Rescue & Sanctuary fills a hole in the "system" for unwanted animals that few of us are usually even aware of-- the need for safe, loving care for animals that are deemed unadoptable otherwise. Many pets that have been poorly looked after to begin with find a haven here, and are not forced to face an uncertain future. Whether they are blind from birth or have lost their sight through a lack of medical attention by owners, or if they have FELV+ or FIV+ status, at BCR, they all receive great healthcare, love, and a permanent home. As well, BCR advocates for the welfare of animals in the area: they have an outreach to spay/neuter, they have helped to provide life-saving equipment to local firefighters that will help those responders save animals in emergencies. It's my hope that BCR's effective strategies to care for and advocate for cats will lay down a pattern for other animal shelters & charities to follow; I know they make a difference every day.

Review for The Office of Letters and Light, Berkeley, CA, USA

Nanowrimo is many things to many people: for me, it was a way to break through the excuses and bad habits that kept me from being a successful writer. I'd gone to school for creative writing, written articles and songs, but never managed to get that first novel finished...
Now, I've finished three in three years, and have started a fourth. I write everyday, in the middle of the most productive phase of my life in more than a decade. The support, helpful tips and camaraderie of the Nano community are unprecedented, a vast continent of fellowship and faith in Art that I feel privileged to enjoy.
The written word is not dead-- NanoWrimo & OLL are keeping it alive, every day and every year.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

My first Nanovel was a breakthrough experience; after writing 82,000 words in 27 days, I knew I had freached a new level of achievement. I haven't stopped writing since... and through Nanowrimo, I found a songwriting challenge, @www.fawm.org, that has changed my songwriting forever. And helped me to take up several new instruments.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Would give everybody a raise.
