Golden Retriever Rescue of Atlanta (GRRA)is a terrific group. I have adopted a golden retriever from them, and subsequently have become a member, a donor and a volunteer. They "do things right" when it comes to their treatment of dogs. All dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative and made current on all shots. The organization is entirely manned by unpaid volunteers and has negligible fundraising costs; almost all donated funds and membership fees go directly towards helping dogs.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

my home and the homes of four other families I know that have adopted dogs from GRRA.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

pray for more people willing to foster dogs. It seems there are plenty of dogs out there, and a decent number of people who want to adopt. The constraint seems to be volunteers willing to be foster homes - the people who foster are the keys to success.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

first of all, my dog Charlie, who I adopted from GRRA, followed close behind by the wonderful people I have met who volunteer for the organization.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

kind and generous in giving of themselves.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

rescue every golden retriever in the Southeast.

Ways to make it better...

people would take better care of their dogs. Many dogs arrive at GRRA with very sad stories in their past. The volunteers are devoted to reversing those stories and giving the dogs loving, permanent homes.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

a.) getting more fosters b.) acquiring funds to help more dogs

One thing I'd also say is that...

if you're looking for a good dog, check out GRRA. If you already have a dog, be sure it's spayed and/or neutered!

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?
