Review for Stupid Cancer, New York, NY, USA

Rating: 3 stars

I am so glad there are organizations like I2Y. I have been involved in healthcare a long time and there are few organizatinos that are serving the need of young people with Cancer (not just children with Cancer but teenagers and young adults). It's a real grass roots effort and has both a on the ground and and web and virtual community.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the ways that young people come together to share their experience both in cities across the U.S. and online.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Get funders both inside the Cancer research institutions and outside.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

to see true grass roots advocacy and networking

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

I have not met alot of them but have heard about them through 2nd hand experience.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

mobilize an army of young people and or friends of young people with Cancer to make Cancer less of a stigma. Cancer could become a chronic illness rather then a perceived death sentence.

Ways to make it better...

It was easier for me off the bat to see what this organization had to offer me in the name of direct services or content.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

getting the word out and funding.

One thing I'd also say is that...

I like to see the organization grow its social networking platform more.

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

Role:  Professional with expertise in this field & helped think about how the organization can grow with its founder.
