TWAS is an amazing animal sanctuary. If an animal needs help, they don't say no, even if that animal is not a large carnivore. They go all over the world to rescue animals who are in dire straits and bring them back to Colorado where they get to live in large habitats with others of their species and receive nutritious food, excellent healthcare, kindness and love from their caregivers. This year, Pat Craig and the other staff at TWAS did something that would have seemed impossible to others: They closed down the Puerto Rico Zoo and moved all the animals (300+) to the USA mainland. At the same time, the PR government also asked TWAS to move another 300+ animals that had been confiscated by the government and were being held in a facility. All these animals, especially those in the zoo, were suffering. For almost all of them, they are now in sanctuaries spread out across the USA and finally enjoying their lives. This was a huge undertaking that TWAS did in record time and under difficult circumstances...there were people in PR who did not want the zoo to go away. TWAS deserves the highest of ratings.
