My Nonprofit Reviews
Review for Milwaukee Lesbian-Gay-Bisexual-, Milwaukee, WI, USA
As a volunteer for the Milwaukee LGBT Community Center Anti-Violence Project (AVP) I have had the opportunity to witness first-hand the importance of advocacy and support being offered to LGBTQA-identified victims of violence. I recently participated in the Pridefest outreach for the AVP where over 775 peace flags were created by various community members passing through the Health & Wellness Area of the festival. It was touching and meaningful to volunteer with such an organization dedicated to making positive connections in our community and in turn significantly shaping the lives of LGBTQ-people.
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
lives of young people (ages 24 and under) through Project Q, people living with HIV, people seeking to find LGBTQ-friendly social services and LGBTQ-friendly community referrals, people looking to make a difference in the LGBTQA-community of Milwaukee.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
the friendly and caring nature of the staff. The openness to making change a positive experience for as many individuals as possible. The willingness to go the extra mile to make sure LGBTQ-folks feel welcome, cared for, appreciated and respected.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
friendly, creative, engaging, personable, thoughtful, caring, kind-hearted and compassionate.
