A super volunteer program, part of a super organization! In my second year with the program, I joined the plant phenology project, tracking growth of several dozen different plants in a two-block portion of the Greenway each week. Support from the volunteer coordinator, the Greenway botanical staff, the gardening staff, and other volunteers couldn't be more gracious and ever-available. Communication between staff and volunteers is great. Not only do I get to commune with plants with which I was previously unfamiliar, but I get to gather data that will prove useful in a variety of ways, I get to be part of this calm, beautiful oasis in the middle of the city, and I get to meet lots of nice people.
