Rating: 5 stars

2012 My Mom

Wendy the Hospice Nurse was my savior. My Mom and I were very close and I was totally lost in the dying process although I had been through it many times before. My Mom invited Hospice into her home with open arms. She knew the love that they brought with them. She was never in any pain physically or spiritually. Again the team effort from Hospice was a win win for us. At the end she was laboring for breath and my sister and I were talking to her and holding her hand. Wendy said to us just hold her hand and sit quietly. We did and a few minutes later she passed away. We asked Wendy about this and Wendy said she wanted to hear us until the end. The Hospice team attended her funeral and gave me many hugs. Hugs that I needed so very much.

2017 Aunt Ruth

Aunt Ruth was at the St. Lucie Hospice House. She was 101 when she passed and her sister age 99 was her caregiver up and until the time she went to the hospice house. Jeanette her sister as you can imagine was exhausted. I did not think she would ever leave her sister’s side until she met the caring staff at the HOSPICE house. She felt comfortable to go home and rest so that when she was by her sister’s side during the day she could give her the care that she wanted to give. At the end Aunt Ruth said she wanted to see a horse one more time. This was of course at the time an unusual request but with one call it happened. Calvin immediately went to Aunt Ruth’s side. She woke up and was able to talk to Calvin and love on him. She then went back to her peaceful rest and passed away the next day. Jeanette her sister just turned 101 and fondly remembers her last day with her sister.
