My Nonprofit Reviews
Review for Free Press, Florence, MA, USA
I was given a scholarship to attend the National Conference on Media Reform. The wonderful opportunity afforded me allowed for an exponential increase in my knowledge and a chance to connect with like minded people. The work done by Free Press is ever more essential in a world of media consolidation, new communications tools arising each moment and no common ground from which to view everything. Free Press is the advocacy organization needed to keep "we the people" informed and engaged in what is truly a fight for freedom.

Review for One Common Unity, Washington, DC, USA
I have worked with One Common Unity on a wide variety of programs. The hands on arts based learning that OCU promotes is wonderful opportunity for personal growth and development, not only for the youth but for all involved. In the last couple of years I have had the opportunity to assist teens with film production on the "I May Not Get There With You" MLK film and work with hundreds of young adults with the CDF Freedom Schools Training. OCU is providing wonderful tools for arts, healing and personal growth.
The one thing OCU could benefit from is funding, it's amazing how much they do with the limited resources they currently have. The vision they have is huge and wonderful and deserves major support.
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
Wilson HS, where students were engaged in classes on non-violence, and on the MLK film project where teens learned how to produce a documentary, while actually doing it!
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
increase their funding so they could hire more staff and build the arts & healing center they have planned.
