Review for Freedom Alliance, Dulles, VA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

This organization provided our family with so much JOY this Christmas. This absolutely helped us to focus on Nathan's (active duty Marine fighting stage 4 cancer) medical care and our daughter is enjoying everything she has received. I tear up every time I tell someone about this opportunity because our daughter was showered with love, support, and presents, and she is loving every bit of it. This year has been extremely difficult for us with nonstop cancer treatment the joy that these gifts brought and being able to play with everything with our daughter will forever hold a special place in our hearts. I am just honestly so grateful for this organization!!!

Review for A Shelter for Cancer Families (ASCF), Houston, TX, USA

Rating: 5 stars

ASCF was a Godsend for our family this year. Nathan has been battling cancer for the past year and a half and this year the military moved our family from SC to NC and we had to set up with a new oncologist. Soon after the move, COVID hit and circumstances outside of our control happened to where we had to seek treatment from a new facility. After a ton of research, our family decided to temporarily relocate to Houston, TX to receive treatment at MD Anderson. When we made the decision to come to Houston, we did not expect to stay for an extended period of time, but treatment would prove that was necessary. After exhausting stressful options for housing and finding that there were not any family friendly options to accommodate our toddler, especially due to COVID restrictions, our social worker help set us up with ASCF and a huge weight was lifted off of our shoulders. Our experience with ASCF was amazing. All of the staff was incredible and answered all of our texts, and were always willing to help out. We always felt welcome and safe. Since ASCF was able to be so helpful, we were able to focus on fighting Nathan's cancer and not continuously worry about how we were going to pay rent in two places. During the holidays, ASCF even provided our family with joyful times despite the circumstances. We did not think that we would be able to carve a pumpkin this year, but ASCF surprised us with a pumpkin and a trick or treat basket full of goodies. I cannot express my gratitude for how grateful and thankful our family is for this organization! Prayers and blessings to all that have stayed, are staying here, and/or will be served in the future.
