Review for Water Wells for Africa, Manhattan Beach, CA, USA
I traveled with Kurt to Malawi in 2016 (woke up to the news that Trump was president).
All of us that accompany him on his work over there, pay our own way (and it is worth it.)
So, any donations go directly to his water projects.
The time I went we were in a bus for 2 hours to the last town in that direction. The main attraction on the 1 main street is the bus station. It also has a selection of stores, all 1 story buildings.
After loading a week's worth of food (frozen chicken "parts", eggs, bread and peanut butter), we continued 2 more hours on an unpaved road, to a school house where we all shared a big room on foam pads.
In the mornings, we packed sandwiches and hard boiled eggs, then we loaded back into our small bus and traveled 1 1/2 hour on dirt trails to meet with the locals for Kurt and his engineers to select the best location to drill a well to serve the biggest area.
We then walk the rest of the way.
One of the wells was inaccessible to the much bigger drilling trucks, so we offered to buy a goat and have the women prepare a dinner of a goat and Nsima (a staple food made from grounding up their home grown corn).
This got most of the locals to help clear a road with crude hoes and picks, suitable for the drilling truck to pass.
They loved doing it for their own water source. We loved working with them.
Don't miss the opportunity to participate (the experience of sleeping ground level with the speedy camel spiders and mosquitos, can be bragged about for years), or choose the equally important aspect, by donating to finance the drilling crews.
