Review for The HUSH Foundation, Torrance, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I came across this organization by way of a nice lady who was volunteering her time passing out brochures about the organization in front of the grocery market the end of last year. At first I started to ignore her, but there was something different about her. So, I decided to stop and talk to her. I found this woman very warm and humble. She was so passionate about the organization that her eyes filled with tears as she told me about what they do at the organization. I took the brochure and went on into the market to do my shopping. The next day, I went to the website and was amazed at the site and became more interested in what the organization does so, I called the telephone number on the site and was again met with a warm voice. I inquired more about the organization and was given more information in great detail. I told the woman on the phone that if they needed a volunteer, I would be happy to do so. She sent me to the page for volunteers and told me to fill out the form and submit it. I did just so. Later that month, I was contacted to assist with a fundraiser that the organization was hosting for children with HIV and AIDS. I jumped at the opportunity! When I went to report to the site where the event was to take place, to my amazement, the woman I met in front of the market was CEO of the organization and what was even more amazing was that I found this organization had no funding at all. The beautiful part of the entire event was that this woman was paying for the event out of her own pocket. The planning, advertising, promotion...everything. I was floored at how organized her event was and how she and her committee were able to put on such an exciting event and fantastic show! I was saddened at the fact that the organization was not able to raise the funds they anticipated, but the committment to their mission and heart of all those involved meant more to them than the loss. This too touched my heart and therefore, I am now a die hard supporter of The HUSH Foundation for they are truly a one-of-a-kind organization.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

their hard work and committement to their mission no matter what.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

help them obtain the funding they need so that they can purchase a site to help more people.

Role:  Volunteer & I assisted with a fundraiser for children with HIV and AIDS.
