Review for Sanctuary for Senior Dogs, Cleveland, OH, USA
After my last dog died, because of my age and other uncertainties, I was not thinking about getting another dog. As days went by I thought more and more about one senior being there for another senior (dog). I have followed the Sanctuary for Senior dogs and even attended a few events through the years. In 2014, I checked available dogs on line at the Sanctuary, but there was not one for me. I did adopt from another rescue. Fast forward 6 years, and I am longing to be a dog mom. I consider myself a "Young" senior although my birth certificate says differently. Started actively looking at dogs in their care not knowing if I wanted to Foster or Adopt. After speaking with Sarah and Deborah Workman, I completed the paperwork and was approved. Visited with 2 dogs at different times, but I felt a connection to Jade. On April 1st, Deborah brought Jade home to me. Jade is the sweetest little girl. She may have limited vision and is deaf, but nothing stops her.
The Sanctuary takes in all types of seniors with different levels of health issues. The Sanctuary staff, fosters, volunteers, vet and others take excellent care of all the dogs there. I am so lucky Jade was cared for by the Sanctuary. Deb was fostering Jade and updated me. Jade gave me quite the scare at 21 days ..... ended up in respiratory distress, pulmonary edema - seen and admitted for ER care. The staff at the Sanctuary checked weekly on how Jade was progressing. Their support was wonderful. It will soon be 7 mos Jade and I have been together Jade is a very special little lady and makes me smile a lot.
Every person, whatever their role,
at the Sanctuary, has a significant and important role in the well being of all dogs in their care. The dogs receive the best care and are loved.
