Review for Video Volunteers, Goa, , India

Rating: 5 stars

I interned with this organization in 2009 and had the most amazing experience. It is a small, vibrant, creative organization working tirelessly to empower marginalized communities in the global south - predominantly India - using community media to amplify voices. I had such a great time and was so committed to the work this organization is doing that I am now back working with them full-time.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

a small village in South India where a group of tribals have been trained by Video Volunteers and are now proficient film producers. These men and women come from one of the most marginalised communities in India and have little education; the odds are stacked heavily against them. And yet, in a community centre hours and hours from the nearest urban centre, they are working determinedly to report on local issues, combat corruption and effect social change - the impact is huge.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

increase our funds so that we can work with even more people and take our models to new countries!
